The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reveals that personal remittances from overseas Filipinos (OFs) grew by 7.3% year-on-year in January 2020.

It appears that long-term OFWs have immensely helped in supporting the growth of personal remittances in the country, as the records show that money influx from land-based OFWs with one year or more work contracts grew by 3.6% to $23.1 billion.
For the first 9 months, the recorded inflow is $22.2 billion for cash remittances versus US$21.3 billion within the same period last year.
The regulator further said that cash remittances coursed through banks have also increased.
Remittances from Overseas Filipinos gained a total of $17.59 billion for the first six months of 2023, the BSP reported.

Personal and cash remittances from Filipinos working and living abroad have declined to its lowest level since June 2022, the BSP reported.
Personal remittances stood at $2.793 billion, a 1.2% higher from $2.759 billion last year, but still lower than January’s $2.966 billion.
