BTSE Philippines Meetup Makati Recap

BTSE, a cryptocurrency trading platform recently held its first meetup in the Philippines.

The 2nd blockchain-centric event and the first meetup I attended this 2020, BTSE in the Philippines is headed by Joylin Telagen as its community manager. The event is also graced by Isabel Laurel, BTSE’s overall Director for PR.

The meetup started on the dot with one minor change. The first speaker Shariff Geron was not in the event but Jonathan Tinoco presented the Cryptocurrency Fundamentals topic. Jonathan stressed the importance of technical analysis in the age of hype. He mentioned that if someone is offering you a “radical, new” cryptocurrency, it is important to know stuff like what are its fundamentals, what is its market cap, what is its current circulating supply, and so on. The 3rd speaker is Joseph Antiquera, who talked about Technical Analysis and Support and Resistances. Joseph is a former OFW and now does trading. He has a group called BTX that teaches the very topic he discussed in detail.

The 2nd presenter, Joylin Telagen introduced the BTSE trading platform to the audience. BTSE allows one to trade in Spot and Futures. It supports the following cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Monero, Tether (USDT), True USDT (TUSD), and USD Coin. It also supports fiat such as CAD, SGD, AUD, HKD, and MYR. By the way, BTSE’s based in Dubai. It’s a fairly new exchange.

Just like the other exchanges, it has up to 100x leverage should you choose to do so. However, a key difference is that the user can choose to trade and settle Futures with any asset of their choice. Joylin said sometimes she will pick settling with Bitcoin if she thinks there is a play coming up. Sometimes she will pick settling in USDT if she is looking for a re-entry.

BTSE also does not have a daily withdrawal limit but has perpetual referral earnings. Refer to the pictures above.

The meetup ended with a Q and A session and some raffle draws. For the Q and A session, Joylin takes charge of all questions regarding BTSE. A question was asked to clarify the fees between the exchanges, to which Joylin calculated the exact amount as requested.

Another question was raised about KYC. What are BTSE’s Know-Your-Customer features? I look upon my account (I have a BTSE account for some time now I actually cannot remember why I have one) to see verification options for personal accounts and corporate accounts. For personal accounts, there’s ID verification and Address verification. To ease and make sure the user does not go through the process multiple times, BTSE put tips to make sure KYC goes just one time. For example, ensuring the name on one document (say the passport) matches the other document submitted for address verification (say a proof-of income).

BTSE also has a BTSE Academy where users can learn Bitcoin and crypto trading.

Going back to the meetup, it was near full capacity and the BTSE team did a good job with the topics. BTSE is a trading platform, so it’s good that the topics really centered about trading. Congrats to BTSE and I hope they have another meetup coming up soon.
