MetaMask: iPhone and Apple Pay Users Can Now Buy Crypto
This eliminates the need to transfer Ether (ETH) from a centralized exchange into the application
Crypto wallet Metamask announced that with their recent IoS update, iPhone users will now be able to buy cryptocurrency using a debit or credit card through the mobile Apple Pay application, eliminating the need to transfer Ether (ETH) from a centralized exchange into the application.
Metamask shared the news last Tuesday, April 12, through a twitter thread.
According to MetaMask, transactions of IoS users will utilize two payment gateways, Wyre and Transak, to support debit card and credit card deals. Also, users can now use their Visas and Mastercards stored in Apple Pay to buy ETH and deposit a daily maximum of $400 into their wallets, thanks to the Wyre API.
In good news, the crypto wallet added that gas fees are reportedly lower, and, according to its tweets, some transactions may even be gasless if done on a private blockchain or if a project pays for the gas on the user‘s behalf. Metamask noted that it does not profit from gas fees when users complete an ETH purchase.
On the other hand, Metamask states that even before the integration, users can buy stablecoins Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC) and Dai (DAI) via Transak on the Ethereum mainnet in the crypto wallet. Through the latest update, users will now also be able to make bank transfers and use credit/debit cards to buy crypto using over 60 global currencies.
