Thirty-five Filipino teams have joined the Hackers League Manila Bootcamp, one of 19 boot camps TON ecosystem-wide hackers competition Hackers League Hackathon, with a $3 million prize pool, to develop decentralized applications (dApps) using the TON API.

What’s the significance: The Hackers League Manila Bootcamp allowed web3 builders with skills workshops, mentorship, and growth opportunities in the TON ecosystem.

Key Details: The Hackers League Manila Bootcamp ran from November 15-17, 2024, at the Meridian Innovation Center in Pasay.

  • Goal: The event aimed to empower local talent and foster a thriving startup ecosystem through hands-on dApp development using the TON API.
  • Organizers: Hackers League Hackathon is primarily hosted by TON Society. The Manila leg is co-organized by OpenVerse, the rebranding of the non-profit tech organization Web3PH. 
  • Partners: Consequently, the Hackers League Manila Bootcamp was supported by AEON, TONKEEPER, Gate Ventures, DeDust, K300 Ventures, and Xircus.
  • The Use of TON API: As mentioned, participating teams were tasked to develop dApps using the TON API, a set of tools that allows developers to interact with the TON blockchain and create dApps by providing access to features like smart contracts, wallet management, and transaction processing.

Winning Projects: Here are the top three dApps developed by the participating teams, who shared a prize pool of $5,000:

  • First Place: HeyWave
    • What it is? A platform connecting creators and fans through personalized experiences and monetization.
    • Team Members: Jeremiah Valero Jr. and Erl Joshua Arcenal
  • Second Place: Aerena
    • What it is? An esports platform for drafting dream teams and collecting unique player cards.
    • Team Members: David Gamboa and Seaver Choy
  • Third Place: Pentaton
    • What it is? A Telegram-based live busking app for independent musicians to engage and monetize their performances.
    • Team Members: Arianne Jane Valencia, Mikayla Gutierrez, and Llana Alinsug

What to Watch: The teams are currently exploring opportunities to scale their solutions, enhance their developed dApps, and collaborate with investors.
