Pinoy Web 3 Startup Founders in Forbes 30 Under 30 List

The founders of homegrown startups BreederDao and AcadArena made the cut to the Forbes 30 under 30 list in Asia for 2022.

The founders of homegrown startups BreederDao and AcadArena made the cut to the Forbes 30 under 30 list in Asia for 2022. These under-30 founders were in the category of consumer technology which according to Forbes are “creating the products that better your everyday life.”

Forbes 30 under 30 list is a roster of young individuals whose success stories are inspirational and have far-reaching impact. It is a set of lists of people under 30 years old issued annually by Forbes magazine and its regional editions. The lists recognize 600 business and industry figures, with 30 selected in twenty industries each.

Philippine esports startup AcadArena is led by Justin Gorriceta-Banusing, 22, Kevin Hoang, 29, and Ariane Lim, 28. Founded in 2019, AcadArena helps student gamers in Southeast Asia to compete in international esports tournaments. Currently,  it is partnered with more than 600 schools, covering more or less 100,000 students, to create and support gaming clubs and communities.

Last year, AcadArena successfully raised $3.5 million in seed funding through its backers including Iterative Capital, Infinity Ventures Crypto and Kevin Lin, co-founder of Twitch, a video game streaming platform.

On the other hand, BreederDao, a startup specializing in breeding and crafting non-fungible token (NFT) assets to be used in play-to-earn games, is founded by Jeth Lorenz Ang, 27, Renz Carlo Chong, 26, and Nicolo Alfonso Odulio, 28. The firm aims to help blockchain-related guilds in upscaling their guilds through developing tools that can give comprehensive data about the assets of different blockchain games. 

Just this month, BreederDAO announced that it has successfully raised 20,736,017 in USDC as it completed its public sale, in which 46% of its token launch allocation, a total of 34,195,322.75 BREED token, was sold out in 72 hours. In January, BreederDAO also raised $10 million in Series A funding led by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and cryptocurrency research firm Delphi Digital. (Read more: BreederDAO Receives Funding From a16z and Delphi Digital, to Generate NFTs at Scale)
