Telegram Introduces ‘Stars’ Token for In-App Purchases

Telegram has launched “Stars,” a utility token for purchasing products, accessing services, and playing games within the app.
What’s the significance? This initiative shows the use case of cryptocurrencies in real life—purchasing goods. Stars is also a new opportunity for game developers to earn more.
More details: In a blog post, highlights the following:
- Stars can be acquired through in-app purchases via Apple, Google, or PremiumBot.
- As of this writing, Stars can be spent on digital products offered by bots, including e-books and online courses, and items in Telegram games.
- In the next update, Stars can also be used to buy in-game items on mini-apps. Only Durger King accepts Stars within the ecosystem of mini-apps.

The numbers: Data shows that there are more or less 400 million users of bots and mini-apps on Telegram monthly.
- Mini-apps, such as Notcoin and Hamster Kombat, can be played without downloading them as standalone apps.
