To provide customers with a simple and convenient way to purchase crypto such as Ethereum (ETH), self-custodial wallet MetaMask and its mother company, Consensys, announced recently that it has integrated the American payments solution PayPal into the platform. Currently, the new wallet feature is available to select U.S. users and is set to roll out to all eligible U.S. customers in the coming weeks.
According to Consensys, MetaMask will be the first Web3 wallet to leverage PayPal to drive more successful on-ramp transactions as it offers “seamless purchase and transfer of ETH from PayPal to MetaMask.”
“This integration with PayPal will allow our U.S. users to not just buy crypto seamlessly through MetaMask, but also to easily explore the Web3 ecosystem,” Metamask Product Manager Lorenzo Santos stated.
In a media release, Consensys highlighted the integration between MetaMask and PayPal is the latest in a “series of announcements that aims to improve and diversify payment options for users within the MetaMask mobile app.”
How to use PayPal within MetaMask:
- Step 1: Login into the Mobile MetaMask App.
- Step 2: Click or tap on the Buy button, then select ‘PayPal’
- Step 3: Enter the desired dollar amount worth of ETH to add to your wallet; you will be redirected to PayPal to log in
- Step 4: Buy your crypto via PayPal, or if you have enough ETH to complete the transaction, send it without buying more.
Upon checking, the available option for purchasing crypto in the Philippines within the Metamask wallet is through debit or credit via Visa or Mastercard.
Last month, the firm introduced MetaMask Bridges, a bridge aggregator that allows users to find the “best routes” in moving their tokens from one chain to another. Through the bridge, users will be able to source the route of the token they want to go to.
Consequently, Metamask recently made steps to improve its presence in web3 gaming. In November, it collaborated with Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) Game7 to create HyperPlay, “the world’s first Web3-native game launcher.”
Last October, ConsenSys also announced the establishment of MetaMask Grants Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) with an annual budget of $2.4 million to support developers who are creating within the MetaMask ecosystem.
As per MetaMask’s first quarter report of 2022, the Philippines has the third highest number of MetaMask users, behind the United States and Brazil. In 2021, it exclusively told BitPinas that 17% or 3.57 million users of its 21 million users were Filipinos.
