On February 17, 2023, the names of 300 participants who will be awarded the scholarship will be announced on Edukasyon.ph’s Facebook page. According to the press release, the courses will be held online and in Filipino to ensure accessibility for all participants nationwide. Participants will receive live instruction and the opportunity to ask questions.
The scholarship program is part of Binance’s global efforts to increase Web3 and blockchain literacy. The company stated that the number of applications to study web3 education through Binance’s separate Scholar Program has reached 82,200 worldwide. In 2022, Binance Charity donated over $2.2 million in BUSD to support Web 3.0 education in various countries, including the Philippines.
“We believe that education is the best form of consumer protection,” said Leon Foong, Head of APAC at Binance. “Our partnership with Edukasyon.ph was launched to reduce the knowledge gap for everyone and to provide a springboard for Web 3.0 education. We want to cater to all users, whether they are a crypto native or a first-time explorer of the blockchain space.”
Binance recently held a community meetup in Cebu, where Philippine General Manager Kenneth Stern said the company has observed an increasing crypto activity in the island. “It is starting to establish itself as a city with many strong founders in the crypto space.“
Binance also held an educational talk in Lyceum University where Stern talked about “MONEY WISE: Breaking Barriers in Bitcoin” to over 400 students, debunking some common misconceptions about crypto. A similar educational initiative is also announced with Enderun Colleges.
Binance also conducted a cybercrime training program with the Department of Information and Communications Technology – Cybercrime Investigation and Coordination Center (CICC)
