April 15, 2019 – The successful format of last year’s BlockChain Hackathon, organized by BlockDevs Asia in Makati, went well on its second offering with an EOS project as the winner.

In its second iteration, BlockDev Asia’s Decentralized Innovation Startup Hackathon (DISH 2019) was greeted with more participants in a weekend meant to elaborate on new ideas built on blockchain, with a focus on blockchain-based products that have commercial and societal solutions.

Developers were tasked to focus on three blockchain platforms – EOS, Ethereum, and Stellar.

On day two, 12 teams were selected and with the support of 10 mentors and 12 judges, they were able to develop innovative concepts, business models, and proof-of-concept implementations.

The winner of this year’s DISH is Michael Galon’s (Gigamike’s) ProsperEOS (PEOS), a completely decentralized funding platform. Mr. Galon opted for a product that aims to solve problems of existing funding platforms. These problems include the tracking of money, the lack of engagement, lack of resources, and marketing for projects.

“The name of our project is ProsperEOS. Combining Prosperous (meaning characterized by financial success or good fortune) and EOS (Most powerful infrastructure for decentralized applications). ProsperEOS is a Complete Decentralized Funding Platform.” – Michael Galon, ProsperEOS

Mr. Galon said he opted for the most basic and most practical use of blockchain – tracking where things are going. He considered the hackathon’s theme – Inclusive Prosperity – while at the same time making sure it is not similar to EOS projects from recent hackathons.

He said ProsperEOS’ decentralized nature can eliminate the middle and can show the transparency of any action or transaction.

In preparation for the hackathon, Mr. Galon admits purchasing Udemy courses, VPS, and EOS tokens. He said he bought around 28 tokens. All in all, he spent around Php 9,000 in preparation for DISH, without knowing of the hackathon’s large prize for winners since his goal is actually to learn DApp/blockchain development.

Mr. Galon and his team thanked the people behind DISH 2019 for their effort, time, support, and patience.

Special shout out to our mentors, Amadeo Brands, Mark Vernon, Roy Selbach and Go Nagata; we count ourselves lucky to do our hackathon idea with someone who open our eyes to new stages of the future of technology and finance.

God bless to DISH and together with Devs community, let’s shape the future and create sustainable platforms, to be prosperEOS and create positive change in the field of finance and technology.
