How to Pay SSS Using Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrency (Old Method)

Paying your SSS contributions is compulsory unless you’re earning less than Php 1,000 a month, employed in the government that uses GSIS, or unemployed who don’t want to do a voluntary coverage.

Starting January 16, 2018, members can now process payments using their Payment Reference Number (PRN) and it will be posted on the account instantly.

You can also use your stored BTC, ETH, BCH, and XRP to pay for your contributions.

What you will need:

  • Active Coins.ph account (Register here!)
  • Peso/bitcoin/ethereum/bitcoin cash/ripple balance
  • My.SSS account
  • Security Bank Online Account

Step 1: Register a My.SSS Account

Register to My.SSS by going to this link: https://www.sss.gov.ph/sss/registrationPages/memberE1.jsp. Choose what information you can provide to register. For individual members, you can receive your PRN to your registered mobile number and email address. For those who want to request their PRN you can email: RNHelpLine[at]sss.gov.ph or onlineserviceassistance[at]sss.gov.ph, call the SSS call center: (02) 920-6446 and (02) 917-7777, get a copy from E-Centers in different SSS branches, SSS tellering counters and payment channels.

Step 2: Open your Coins.ph

You can use your Coins.ph app to pay for your SSS contributions directly. After having your account verified and putting funds in, tap on Pay Bills and then choose the appropriate SSS Contributions.

Although, as of this writing, Coins.ph made SSS contributions payments temporarily unavailable. You can check https://status.coins.ph/ for updates.

Since the direct SSS contribution payment is not available. We will try another alternative using Coins.ph. Choose Cash out from the home screen and then tap on Security Bank as a Payout Method. Take note that the minimum amount is Php 500 and the maximum is Php 5,000.

There are two wallet’s available for cashing out, either your Peso wallet or Bitcoin wallet. If you have your funds in your ETH, BCH, or XRP, make sure to convert them to either BTC or PHP first.

Step 3: Security Bank

After your successful transaction in Coins.ph, it will give you the following: 16-digit reference number, 4-digit passcode, exact cash-out amount. You will receive this important information via text message and email.

Go to your nearest Security Bank ATM and press Enter then select eGiveCash. Take note that you will not need a Security Bank ATM or other bank’s ATM for this transaction.

After choosing eGiveCash it will ask you the 16-digit reference number, 4-digit passcode, and the exact payout amount.

*Note: Only accounts that have undergone a Level 2 KYC (email, identity, and selfie verified) have the option to use the Security Bank cash out.

Once you have your fiat, deposit it to your security bank account. Once done, go online and process your SSS contribution through Security Bank Online account. Have your PRN ready.

That’s too complicated?

At the moment, yes, but as mentioned, you can proceed to do that if you want to pay your SSS using cryptocurrencies. Once Coins.ph opens up their SSS payment service again, the process will just simply be tapping “pay bills” at Coins.ph and select “SSS contributions”.
