Feature News: Infrawatch Turns Its Attention to Bitget, OKX
Two days ago, I received this email from Infrawatch: a copy of its letter addressed to the SEC (which the SEC had also labeled “Received”) urging the Commission to ban OKX and Bitget, two of the more prominent cryptocurrency exchanges globally.
With Binance out of the picture (optics wise, the exchange giant appears okay to just be relegated to only being accessible via its mobile apps), the think tank’s new targets are other prominent exchanges.
The gist of Infrawatch and its convenor Terry Ridon’s concerns are:
- Both platforms support purchasing tokens via methods like GCash. and P2P transactions.
- Aggressive marketing campaigns including giveaways and rewards.
- Promotional events in universities, which Infrawatch claims to be disguised as educational blockchain initiatives.
