OKX SG, the Singapore arm of global crypto exchange OKX, has received a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

  • The MPI license, granted under Singaporeโ€™s Payment Services Act, allows OKX SG to provide key services like buying and selling cryptocurrencies and transferring money across borders.
  • Gracie Lin is the new CEO of OKX SG. She has nearly 20 years of experience in finance and tech, including roles at Grab and MAS.

This development strengthens OKXโ€™s presence in Singapore, a core market for its global expansion strategy.

  • OKX is one of the worldโ€™s largest crypto exchanges, with millions of users globally.
  • The new license will help the company to legally tap into Singapore’s robust financial market and attract more customers.

How about the Philippines? Regarding the BSP’s VASP licenses, we haven’t received any updates from OKX, but news like this, that the exchange was approved in Singapore, could prove a factor should the company decide to get licensed locally with the central bank.
