Google search volume for “bitcoin” has reached its lowest point since October 2023, despite a 142% rise in its price over the past year, The Block has reported.

  • For the week ending Oct. 12, global search interest for “bitcoin” on Google Trends was 17, dropping to 14 this week. This is compared to 15 in October 2023, the lowest since its peak of 100 in May 2021.
  • U.S. search trends show a similar decline, with last weekโ€™s value at 16, the lowest since 13 on Oct. 14, 2023.

In the Philippines, it is currently not in the lowest but still not in record levels compared to during the Bitcoin halving.

Note: In the past 12 months, Bitcoinโ€™s price has surged from around $26,850 to $69,000.

What’s the takeaway: Despite low search interest, The Block said analysts suggest this may present an opportunity to invest, as past drops in interest have coincided with price increases.
