Nix Eniego, AVP for Marketing for PDAX, announces that he is leaving the Bangko Sentral-licensed exchange to join Sky Mavis, the developers of Axie Infinity, as Philippines Lead. In a message to BitPinas, Nix said his new position will allow him to fully support the expansion of Axie Infinity in the Philippines.

Nix announced the news on Twitter, where he said it’s an “honor and a privilege to be part of a movement that can truly change the world for the better.”

In his previous role in PDAX, Nix oversaw the increase of cryptocurrencies available on the platform. In June of last year, PDAX announced UNI, ENJ, GRT, LINK, COMP, BAT, and AAVE. Just last week, five new coins were launched on the local platform – MATIC, ADA, Dogecoin, Polkadot, and AVAX.

PDAX has also began partnering with local non-fungible token (NFT) projects, including with Bored Punks of Society. Late last year, the company announced “ScholarPay,” a tool for guild managers to send money directly to scholars. Nix worked to announce the news on Lunacian Daily, a daily Axie e-newspaper.

Nix is also a top Axie Infinity player regularly visible in the leaderboards. In Axie Infinity’s season 19, he peaked at no. 36 rank out of more than 2 million players in the game. On February 10, he announced his retirement from the competitive Axie scene.

Prior to his role in PDAX, Nix founded Social Media Academy, an online school that teaches social media marketing strategies to students.

He was also Community Circles Lead for Facebook, becoming the social network’s official community ambassador, and was Head of Marketing at Sprout PH.

Axie Infinity exploded in popularity in the Philippines in 2020 when it was revealed in an article how many Filipinos in Cabanatuan are playing the game to earn income during lockdown. The popularity reached fever pitch in May 2021 when a documentary about the article was released. In an essay in July 2021, Luis Buenaventura, noted how the game is remitting more money back to the Philippines than remittances from Overseas Filipino Works (OFWs) in Hong Kong.

In the first episode of BitPinas webcast that aired Nov. 25, 2021 where Nix was guest, he mentioned Axie Infinity is not yet on its peak and that he is excited to see the games’ upcoming updates. Nix reminded people who get “frustrated, impatient and angry about the current price of SLP” (Smooth love Potion), the in-game commodity token of Axie Infinity, that this is not yet the finale and the game is “just getting started.”
