YGG Play, the publishing arm of crypto gaming guild Yield Guild Games (YGG), continues its expansion into the “Casual Degen” genre with the launch of Waifu Sweeper.

Developed in partnership with gaming solutions and consulting firm Raitomira, the new title combines the nostalgic logic puzzles of Minesweeper with the collectible mechanics of Japanese gacha games.

What is Waifu Sweeper?

At its core, Waifu Sweeper is a strategic puzzle game. Players use avatars—styled as collectible anime-inspired “waifus”—to navigate a board, using logic and available information to uncover hidden treasures while avoiding monsters.

The Twist

While the game features “gacha” elements (a mechanic where players spend currency to receive random items), Waifu Sweeper diverges from the traditional luck-based model.

According to the developers, the rewards players earn are largely determined by their gameplay proficiency rather than pure chance.

“Waifu Sweepers’ goal is to give players more agency about their in-game winnings by introducing ‘Skill to Earn’ — reducing randomness and distributing rewards more towards skilled players in the game.

YGG Play is an exciting new platform that is shaping a new Web3 gaming landscape with the Casual Degen genre, and we are happy to be part of it.”

YGG Play’s 2026 Initiatives

The launch of Waifu Sweeper marks YGG Play’s second major initiative this year as it cements its position as a “casual degen-focused web3 gaming publisher.”

The platform recently announced a crossover with GIGACHADBAT, a game on the Abstract network, integrating the Bearish NFT IP ahead of a token launch.

According to YGG Play, more collaborations and game launches are in the pipeline for 2026 as they aim to diversify their portfolio with experimental gameplay loops.

“Casual Degen games are evolving, and Waifu Sweeper shows very interesting skill-based gameplay. Raitomira is a new studio, but both its co-founders, Hun and Karan, have been building in Web3 gaming for several years. They are introducing new combinations that have not been explored in YGG Play, and I’m very excited to see the game’s progress.”
