To keep pace with the rapid growth of fintech industry in the country during the pandemic, 917Ventures, a startup incubator owned by Globe Telecom, has partnered with global fintech training platform 10×1000 Tech For Inclusion, securing 100 Fintech Foundation Program Flex grants for its employees.

The collaboration, which will be the first in the country, will start this October, giving Globe’s employees opportunities to upskill in fintech through training and workshops provided by the Flex program.

“We are grateful to be part of this significant initiative. We have seen the rapid growth of fintech during the pandemic and we need to be able to take advantage of this situation by harnessing our employees’ ability to ideate, develop new markets, and make financial products and services more inclusive for the masses to drive economic growth,” said Vince Yamat, 917Ventures Managing Director.

The 10×1000’s Fintech Foundation Program Flex, an online certificate program designed to hone its learners to become drivers of digital economic growth, aims to train 1000 experienced fintech talents and leaders from around the world each year for the next ten years.

The crash course, which includes modules and quizzes about digital technology and financial inclusion will be offered to professionals with a minimum of three years of fintech or digital economy-related experience. (Read More: UnionBank Fintech Arm UBX Launches Staking Pool in Cardano)

“I am excited that learners from 10×1000’s new Flex program will gain the fintech knowledge that they need to support their communities and help bring us closer to meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).” Jing added, referring to 10×1000 and Globe’s common objective to uphold the UN Global Compact principles and contribute to 10 UN SDGs. In their aim to help develop and strengthen the leadership among its people, 917Ventures will also be participating in the 10×1000 Fintech Leadership Program that will take place in mid-November.

The said partnerships will also benefit Globe and 917Ventures portfolio companies such as GCash, KonsultaMD, HealthNow, RUSH, PureGo, and AdSpark.

The 10×1000 Tech For Inclusion initiative was launched jointly by the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, and Alipay, a digital payment platform, in 2018.
