What is Cryptoblades?

Cryptoblades is a web-based roleplaying game on the Binance Smartchain from the team at Riveted Games. Players recruit characters, defeat enemies, forge weapons, and participate in raids, all while earning the SKILL token as a reward for every successful activity.

SKILL is the BEP-20 token of Cryptoblades. Recently, NFT games have been booming, as evidenced by Axie Infinity’s recent growth particularly in the Philippines. Now people who can’t afford the capital required in Axie, are looking at games like Cryptoblades as an alternative. Within only a few months since launch, Cryptoblades has already been topping different platforms (i.e., #1 on DApp.com in BSC category, Top 10 in DAppRadar, one of the Top 50 in playtoearn.net, one of the top 20 in MVBII, etc.) and it has even surpassed Pancakeswap’s daily transactions.

How to Start Playing Cryptoblades

How to Connect MetaMask and Buy SKILL Token

1) Setup your Metamask and connect its network to BSC, if you still haven’t please refer to this guide: How to Connect MetaMask to Binance Smartchain.

2) Go to https://app.cryptoblades.io/#/, and see how much SKILL token you will be needing.

Note they had a promo of a free 1 SKILL for every new account. SKILL is the in-game token that you can use to recruit, forge, and reforge. NOT on the marketplace. (The free 1 SKILL for every new account might be gone by the time this article is published.)

3) Fund your Metamask with atleast 0.05 BNB for gas:

1. Buy BNB on Binance.
2. On MetaMask, make sure your network is Binance Smartchain Copy the BNB address on your MetaMask.
3. On Binance, withdraw the BNB to the address you copied on MetaMask. (NOTE: MAKE SURE YOUR METAMASK IS CONNECTED TO BINANCE SMART CHAIN. Check out our My DeFi Pet guide where we explained the process.)

4) Buy  the SKILL mentioned on the homepage of Cryptoblades by swapping your BNB or stablecoin on https://app.apeswap.finance/swap or https://pancakeswap.finance/swap

Start Playing: Recruit Character, Weapons, and Combat

1) Turn off the 3D mode of Cryptoblades so it can load faster.

2) Click Recruit character on https://app.cryptoblades.io/#/, approve SKILL, and refresh your page. Now if you go to Plaza, you should see 1 character and on Blacksmith you should see 1 weapon.

If you’re going to recruit another character and have extra non-in-game SKILLS, then you may look into buying into the marketplace for a lower price. Pick the same element as your character in case you can obtain a higher star weapon of the same element, every character may use it for better earnings.

7) Now on Combat, you may battle with opponents and earn your SKILL and experience. You may refer to the photo below as your reference (i.e., Fire is stronger than Earth)

How to Withdraw SKILL Token Earned After Playing Cryptoblades?

1. Either withdraw your SKILL with a ~15% tax or stake it for 7 days.
2. Exchange it back to BNB or stablecoins on https://app.apeswap.finance/swap or https://pancakeswap.finance/swap 
3. Transfer your capital or profit back to your choice of exchange, sell it/withdraw it.

Tips When Playing Cryptoblades

• If your gas is high, you’re probably having an error, there’s no liquidity, or the item is already sold/delisted.
• Don’t combat on the last minute of the hour or __:59, this would just consume your gas without any experience or SKILLS

• In buying a weapon in the marketplace, you will always be approving 2 transactions, this is normal.

Maximize Skill Tokens Earned: Cryptoblades Combat Simulator

1) Use a combat simulator: https://wax-dapps.site/crypto-blades/combat

2) Hero Power and their element would be seen on 1, Weapon Stat 1-3 and Weapon Bonus power with their elements would be on 2, Enemy 1-4 would be seen on and near 3 and 4.

3) If putting 4 enemy statistics is too much hassle for you, you may put only 1-2 enemies by narrowing it down by the element you’re stronger with and their power. A faster approach is just using the +28-+30XP as your basis of who to fight.

4) There will be times that exchanging on Pancakeswap is profitable than Apeswap.

5) You may change your SKILL to BUSD instead of USDT (whichever is giving the better payout)

6) Stake your SKILL so that you can just wait 7 days and not 15 days to evade that 15% tax. Don’t use the Old one, as it will be deleted already. It is recommended to use the middle one instead to avoid impermanent loss.

7) Use https://bogged.finance/trade for limit buy and limit sell. Note that you need $2.50 worth of BOG token per limit order.

8) Increase your transaction gas on marketplace if you saw a cheap weapon or character, many might have their eyes on it.

9) Some people are making a better Dapp to automate battling, computing the chances of winning and higher earnings.

10) Reforge your weapon for bonus power. This will burn one of your weapon so choose your 1 star weapon as burn weapon.

Recent changes to Cryptoblades

They used a different contract for trading weapons and characters. (How to trade characters/weapons).

Connect the wallet you’re going to transfer from to Web 3 (you’ll know you’re connected when the red circle becomes green).

Then go to:

Note that “From” would be the contract address of the person sending the weapon or character and “to” is the contract address of the one receiving the weapon or character.

Other changes to Cryptoblades:

• Deleted 5 SKILLS due to abuse. Now they are giving away 1 skill instead.
• Front end changes for better User Interface (UI).
• Chainlink’s VRF or an oracle was added.
  

Cryptoblades and the Chainlink Oracle

The oracle will adjust the game’s payout and fees as the token changes in price.

Rough explanation of the mathematics of the oracle:

Consider that today the price of SKILL is $26 and then increased at $127. Your payout today is 0.33 SKILL but since it got a bit stable at $127, the oracle followed it their next update, so your payout decreased to 0.07 SKILL. Thus, balancing your profit to the supposed profit.

Comparing the 2 pictures, a 4-star blade would give higher earnings. And as you level up on milestones, you can get bigger rewards. 1 character was bought with 0.9717 SKILL and another with the same price since there was a free 1 SKILL in-game token. Also, after 2 days, this account was able to get 0.4 SKILL which is approximately 2,320 pesos. So, if this continues and the price of SKILL didn’t drop, this account’s ROI would be on its 3^rd day.

Cryptoblades Final Sentiments and Risks:

In the perspective of a late comer in Alienworlds, the gameplay is much simpler. On top of that, Cryptoblades included an oracle that would still pay sufficiently if you came in late. And because of this, people who came for money would still be profitable in a small number of days compared to Alienworlds where you’re only profitable if you’ve dug out an expensive NFT and the probability of it is low.

From the perspective of someone who was looking for the next Safemoon which never happened in terms of Binance listing but may have in terms of earnings, finding the next Cryptoblades this NFT season is still on going. People who’ve entered this game are also diversifying their portfolio not only on the NFT space but also in the crypto space.

Now the problem recently is that SKILL pumped too fast, and the possibility of it going down is too high, so people who stocked up on SKILL tokens would have lesser earnings and because of oracle delay this is a problem to early players but not to newcomers as the oracle will adjust. Also, since this was on BSC network this might be prone to flash loan attacks and people might lose their trust on the game.

Compared to months earlier, especially to people who didn’t know what they are doing, bugs such as forging and not having a weapon, confusing UI, and abusable loopholes were resolved. Having been ranked #1 on Binance Most Valuable Builder (MVB) II for Phase I, and recent developments especially on their frontend and a new game (Cryptoblades: Kingdom) to complement the game says that MVB II’s possible win isn’t the last we see of Cryptoblades.
