One in three respondents (32%) stated that they will quit their job or consider resigning from their professional positions if they could play non-fungible token (NFT) games full time.

This was revealed by the recently published inaugural Community Insights Report of NFT gaming platform Balthazar.

The research surveyed 1,103 respondents, with the majority of respondents from the Philippines (97%). This also includes those who currently play NFT games (mostly are Balthazar scholars) and those who do not yet play.

While one-third of the respondents said they would quit, more than half of them (59%) said they would play full-time and continue working other jobs.

On top of that, more than two-thirds (65%) of respondents said they would need to earn a minimum of ₱ 2,000 on average to consider quitting their job to play NFT games full-time. More than half (55%) said they would need to earn between $1 (more or less ₱ 50) and $20 (approximately ₱ 1,000) per day to afford to quit their current job to play.

“I’m not surprised by these findings because, just like us, our community is incredibly excited about the future in NFT gaming and the potential earning opportunities offered through Balthazar. They love play-to-earn games and many are ready to quit their other jobs to play NFT games instead, as they could potentially be earning the same, if not more from playing NFT games.” –John Stefanidis, CEO of Balthazar

These results may be the effect of the growing popularity of NFT games in the country, following the success of blockchain game Axie Infinity. In fact, the game ranked as the most Googled NFT collection in the world according to the data gathered by creative resource Design Bundles. It was revealed when the firm studied the most sought-after NFTs based on the number of times they were searched in Google each month. “We believe that play-to-earn games will be the biggest disruptor in the crypto space this year, as well as the video game industry, as more gaming companies, crypto holders and traditional investors are investing in the space,” Stefanidis added.

In January, the developers of Axie Infinity launched the  Builder’s program to fulfill its mission to “build Axie alongside the community.” Currently, they are gearing up to launch its upcoming Axie Infinity: Origin in Q1 of 2022. In a twitter space last February 16, Sky Mavis’ program lead Andrew Campbell (aka Zyori) and game products lead Philip La discussed the mechanics and features of the upcoming gameplay. A survey was also ran by Yield Guild Games (YGG) last month where it was revealed that 86% of their sponsored scholars through the “sponsor-a-scholar” program used crypto for the first time.
