September 18, 2019 – Filipinos can now add money to their Abra crypto wallet by cashing-in through all 7-Eleven branches nationwide and any retail outlets of ECPay.
Made possible via a partnership with ECPay, users only need to go to Cliqq Kiosks inside 7-Eleven to deposit money to the wallet, which can then be used to purchase crypto, stocks, and other digital assets available in the Abra app.
How to buy Bitcoin at Abra via Cash-in through 7-Eleven
- Go to a Cliqq kiosk within 7-eleven.
- alternatively, download the Cliqq mobile app.
- Find Abra listed under “Bill Payment” option and complete the required fields.
- Add the amount to be deposited
- minimum = Php 500
- maximum = Php 100,000
- transaction fee of 2%
- Confirm by printing the receipt and completing the transaction with the cashier.
- Through the mobile app, show the reference number to the cashier.
According to Abra’s blog post, the cash will be added to the Abra will within 1 – 2 business days except during weekends and holidays.
Note that this writer hasn’t tried this option so we really cannot comment on the “1-2 business days” commitment. However, 1 – 2 business days is longer than Coins.ph’ and Buybitcoin.ph’s instant cash-in via 7-Eleven. What the user will get, however, in exchange for the longer transaction time, is exposure to more digital assets, even stocks, available via the Abra app as well as more competitive prices of crypto assets.
For cashing out, one alternative is to cash out via your UnionBank account.
