Asia Crypto Conferences Getting Postponed Due to Coronavirus Threat

The trend is not limited to crypto conferences. Many Asian trade fairs and conventions are postponed amid the virus outbreak.

February 13, 2020 – The coronavirus outbreak is a serious concern particularly in Asia, where majority of the cases are being reported. In response, many cryptocurrency-related conferences are being postponed.

Early last month, crypto exchange Binance announced delaying the Binance Blockchain Week Vietnam, slated from February 29 – March 4, 2020.

Next, Hong Kong Blockchain Week 2020 also announced it is postponing the event slated for March 2020 indefinitely, with a new date to be announced once it is definite.

Cointelegraph noted that major crypto conference TOKEN2049 postponed its annual event originally for March 2020 to October 2020. Via a blog post TOKEN2049 said, “Over the past weeks, we have been monitoring the global developments around the Coronavirus closely. Whilst Hong Kong is managing the situation well and has taken strict precautions to contain any potential impact, uncertainty prevails.”

The trend is not limited to crypto conferences. Many Asian trade fairs and conventions are postponed amid the virus outbreak. As noted by news publication China’s oldest trade fair, The Canton Fair, is postponed indefinitely. It was originally scheduled on April 15, 2020. The East China Import and Export Commodity Fair, another big event in Shanghai is postponed indefinitely. Other postponed fairs in China included SEMICON, the International Building and Construction Trade Fair, and the annual China Development Forum.

In Singapore, the Food & Hotel Asia’s trade show and Travel Fair NATAS Travel are postponed.

In Europe, the annual Mobile World Congress have witnessed many companies pulling out, including LG Electronics and Ericsson.
