Blockchain Association of the Philippines (BAP) is aiming for a blockchain education program to the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The association also noted that using the blockchain in government offices will have a lot of use cases.

Officially launched during the Blockchain Application and Economic Forum 2018 (BAEF2018) on May 29, 2018, BAP Vice Chairman Mr. Arvie de Vera shared a few key points during his speech.

He noted that the public sector is a very important component for blockchain to grow. He said that once the public sector is already into it, it will help with the adoption. As the government uses the blockchain, it will peak the public’s interest and drive its demand in the society.

“There are so many used cases there — land titling, OFW remittance, loans, even in the backend like efficiency, productivity, procurement. So many used cases on government,” – Mr. Arvie de Vera, Vice Chairman of BAP, Fintech and Partnerships Head of Union Bank

Aside from the government using blockchain, BAP also aims to create a blockchain center of excellence in the country. The association believes that this will help boost blockchain application in the country’s industries and sectors and to also drive prosperity.

Mr. de Vera also shared that BAP aims to propose the blockchain education program to CHEd and TESDA.

“It can be done by the Association, its partners, as well as bringing in global leaders. There are blockchain academies from Australia, New York, and Japan that can really help in the education aspect,” – Mr. Arvie de Vera, Vice Chairman of BAP, Fintech and Partnerships Head of Union Bank
