Blockchain-Based Game Battle Racers “Stunned” By Community Support During Item Pre-Sale
According to the game’s Medium blog, Battle Racers have sold 479 ETH worth of crates, which contains car parts that will be used to create cars (Battle Racers) which the owner can use to participate in races. The cars can also be tokenized, which will allow for future selling. The ability and record of each car is recorded on the blockchain.
During the item pre-sale, users can purchase “Crates”. These crates are of different types – Gold Crate, Silver Crate, Bronze Crate, and Wood Crate. Each crate will contain a specific number of car “parts”. A Gold Crate, for example, contains 4 part(s) while a Wood Crate contains 1.
Now, these “parts” also have classifications. There are “Legendary” parts, “Commons”, “Rares”, and “Epics”. All of these parts classifications have different drop rates depending on the type of crate purchased. For example, there’s a 30% chance obtaining an Epic on a Gold Crate and a 12% chance for a similar part on a Wood Crate.
According to the Medium blog post, 16 out of the 60 Legendary parts have already been found. Legendary Parts, and many other exclusive items will only drop during the item pre-sale. Below is an image of “Bolt Catdillac Body”, a “casing” car part and the 2nd legendary item minted in the game (with serial number 2):
Being the 2nd legendary item in the game (there will be 60 in the pre-sale), and since this game is a blockchain game, members of the Battle Racers Discord Community discussed whether the serial numbers will have different values in the future depending on when they are minted:
The Medium blog post also shows that the majority of the purchasers bought Wood Crates, comprising more than half of the pre-sale.

The Pre-Sale did not sail initially without problems. During the first days, reports from the community revealed issues regarding crates not opening. Battle Racers team isolated the problem to the mainnet transaction that was getting stuck. This was an issue particularly during moments when gas prices spiked. The team created adjustments so this will not be an issue in the future.
Blockchain games’ proposition to gamers and developers centers around non-fungible items. Non-fungible items are fully owned by its owner and are independent of the game. According to Luna Javier of Altitude Games (who developed Battle Racers), “If I own my character, I fully own it. Nobody can take it away. It doesn’t stay on one server. It is alive in all these nodes,” she said during last year’s GameFest 2018 in Manila. With true item ownership explained, Ms. Javier tapped on “interoperability”. Upon fully owning a character or an item through blockchain, players can now use it to play on other games “as long as the game supports it”.
Battle Racers Item Pre-Sale will on June 21, 2019.
