Pick Up Trash for Ether Bounty Project A Success in the Philippines

Bounties for the Oceans together with Bounties Network, ConsenSys, Coins.ph, and Trust Wallet successfully concluded its pilot bounty at Las Pinas-Paranaque Critical Habitat & EcoTourism Area in Manila. Participants are given PHP 550 worth of ETH in exchange of non-biodegradable debris collected.
Attended by participants all over the Metro, the first pilot bounty for Bounties for the Oceans was a success. The event that happened at Las Pinas-Paranaque Critical Habitat & EcoTourism Area in Manila on December 1-2, 2018 was able to gather non-biodegradable debris at the natural reserve.
Each attendee is given PHP 550 worth of ETH in exchange for the trash collected. Although the pilot event ended, the bounty is still open for people who want to contribute to the funds that will continue paying people who will keep the oceans clean.
The goal of this initiative is to show the feasibility of a incentivizing participation and with the blockchain having the proof or record, blind trust is no longer needed but only a “proof of action”

In addition to creating awareness about cryptocurrency, blockchain, and the status of Manila waters, it also creates jobs that can help people.
Another initiative that will help clean Manila waters using blockchain technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is Cypher Odin’s Memorandum of Understanding with Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC). The MOU stated that the two will work hand in hand in rehabilitating the 25-kilometer long river back to its glory. It will link both networks and will also have regular meetings to assess, identify, and provide solutions to Pasig river-related problems.
Multinational brand SC Johnson also wants to help get rid of ocean plastics by partnering with the Plastic Bank and utilizing the blockchain technology. According to its report, the Philippines is one of the top five countries in the world together with China, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam that cumulatively contributes to the 55% of the plastic wastes that find its way to the ocean. It will use Plastic Bank’s successful proof-of-concept program running on Haiti.
