According to Abra, this is made possible with crypto-collateralized contracts (C3). The company explains that using bitcoin as the underlying technology for any investment, any investor can gain immediate investment exposure to any asset, such as stocks, bonds, or even other cryptocurrencies.
Abra gives the example of buying $1,000 worth of Apple shares. The user only has to place $1,000 worth of bitcoin into C3, creating a smart contract.
As the price of Apple goes up or down versus the dollar, bitcoin will be added to or subtracted from your contract.
The underlying bitcoin will adjust itself accordingly to be equal to the value of the Apple shares. Abra said it is taking the risk on these contracts but it is very confident because it has already processed hundreds of millions of dollars worth of similar investment contracts and has never lost money on those.
