Lyceum of the Philippines Hosted Blockchain Training By NEM

The NEM Blockchain Technical Training seeks to train students as Lyceum is set to launch its elective blockchain course by January 2019.

October 31, 2018. NEM Philippines together with NEM Malaysia conducted a successful NEM blockchain technical training at the Lyceum of the Philippines University. The training was aimed at the university’s College of Technology students with the purpose of educating and sharing blockchain knowledge.

Being the subsidiary of NEM.io Foundation Ltd., NEM Philippines was entrusted to spread awareness of the NEM blockchain and also educate the public about blockchain and cryptocurrencies in the country. Together with NEM Malaysia, the team introduced and conducted a NEM Blockchain technical training at the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) on September 27, 2018.

The university’s dean of the College of Technology was present to start the event. He was followed by the NEM Philippines’ Head, Mr. Emerson Fonseca; NEM PH’s Business Development Manager, Ms. Keltine Tan; and NEM Malaysia’s Technical Advisor and Developer, Mr. Anthony Law.

The three were able to discuss the basics of the blockchain, NEM 101, and the NEM Blockchain. In addition, they were also able to share the NEM blockchain’s features and uses in detail to the students.

The NEM Blockchain Technical Training hopes to help the students during the first semester of 2019 as LPU is set to launch its elective blockchain course by January 2019.

The Lyceum of the Philippines is one of the many colleges and universities that NEM Philippines are trying to tap in order spread awareness about blockchain. Among its list are STI Colleges, De La Salle University-Manila, Ateneo de Manila University, and iAcademy Nexus.

The team is also set to build a blockchain education hub in the country. The blockchain education hub will have an education center, a shared space for working or studying, and a place where companies and individuals can hold blockchain events.

During the celebration of NEM Philippines’ first anniversary on September 1, 2018 at Punta Mandala bar and restaurant, the team’s executives believe that the Philippines can supply the need of blockchain developers in the world. According to Mr. Nelson Valero, Council Member of the NEM Foundation, he wants Filipinos to be associated with the word “blockchain” and their talents. Its Strategic Alliance and Partnership Director, Mr. Richard Tiu, also believes the same and added that Filipinos have an additional edge because of their English speaking skills.
