November 14, 2018. The Bounties Network Partners With Coins.ph together with Consensys for a social project that can help clean the ocean while earning Ethereum.

Bounties For Ocean

The project, “Bounties for the Oceans: Philippines Pilot – Sustained, Verifiable Plastic Cleanups” seeks to “re-engineer the “flow of money and its distribution patterns, bridging the gap between social entrepreneurs, non-profit/NGOs and the general public”.

The Bounties Network said in a Medium post that administrative costs are afflicting most charity models of today. In one of its earlier “Bounties for Ocean Project”, they made it simple to receive a bounty – pick trash, submit verifiable proof, receive a reward. The verifiable proof can be a picture of the person with a trash while also holding a newspaper with the date on it. The picture should then be tweeted with a hashtag so that Bounties can check it.

Incentivizing people who helped for a cause proved to be a good model. Several cleanups have been initiated in countries like the US, Canada, Venezuela, and Tasmania. Furthermore, many people participating in the bounty did know blockchain initially, which means the project has spread awareness of blockchain as well.

Philippines

In the Philippines, Bounties for Oceans project will be supported by Coins.ph, a popular crypto and peso wallet app. Together with Consensys, the Cleanup Project will happen on December 1 – 2, 2018 from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Las Pinas-Paranaque Critical Habitat & EcoTourism Area.

The volunteer must take a picture of themselves with trash picked for a half a day on the project location. The image must also be sent on social media along with a screenshot for verification.

Coins.ph

According to Bounties, Coins.ph will be on the ground so that volunteers can exchange their ETH to Php, thus completing the “Money Loop” in bridging crypto to “current financial setups”.

The project does not stop from picking garbage. The next phase involves recycling and manufacturing of products out of it. Another project will involve turning plastic into fibre. Funds raised by the project will be put more social impact projects on the blockchain.
