Pundi X Blockchain Phone Ready For Launch

September 17, 2019 – The blockchain phone from PundiX, in the works for a year now, is ready for market launch.

Pundi X put the latest iteration of the phone at the IFA 2019 tech event in Berlin this week and has revealed to CoinDesk that the device is available for pre-order in Q4 2019 for $599 via Kickstarter and PundiX’s wallet. The phone – now officially called “Blok on Blok” or BOB – will have all the data executed over function X blockchain system without centralized service providers storing user’s private information.

Pundi X’s BOB phone allows users to switch between Pundi X’s blockchain OS which powers the decentralized services and Android. The company said the phone will come with a “MOD Assembly Kit,” with detachable parts that allow buyers to modify the device’s external look. Finally, being a blockchain phone, it will have access to decentralized apps (dapps) and blockchain services, as well as supporting the function X network as actor node on the blockchain.

Pundi X phone’s initial batch will be 5,000 units which will be considered as prototypes before a planned full retail launch in the market.  Other phone makers are rushing to launch blockchain phones. LG is said to be close to the launch of a device, as reported on Sept. 10, 2019. Samsung and crypto exchange Huobi both already launched phones for the crypto and blockchain space.
