UnionBank Launches Blockchain Xcellerator Program

October 2, 2019 – UnionBank of the Philippines is launching a new Blockchain Training program aimed to produce talent that will push for more blockchain opportunities in the country.

Blockchain Xcellerator Program is an eight-week intensive course for developers to advance their blockchain knowledge. There are three phases. Phase 1 will introduce the participants to the entire program and consists of online self-paced learning through interactive media and resource materials. For Phase 2, the participants will be assessed of what they have learned in the previous phase, particularly their understanding of blockchain technology and Ethereum. Those who pass will move to Phase 3, which will involve immersion by testing their practical knowledge in real-wold projects and experience with guided development sessions with mentors from UnionBank and UBX, the bank’s fintech subsidiary.

Applicants can register at http://bit.ly/wethexcellerators and attend the launch at UnionBank Plaza on October 5, 2019.  A fee of Php 3,000 will be collected, inclusive of the training kit, 8-week access to learning modules, and guaranteed participation in Phase 1 and 2 of the program.

UnionBank has already launched several blockchain initiatives, including the Blockchain Institute last year. UnionBank President and CEO Edwin Bautista said he believes blockchain will be one of the biggest technologies in the near future. Eventually, this blockchain takeover will be an opportunity for the Philippine workforces as a major source of blockchain professionals.

In a statement sent to BitPinas, UnionBank said, “We started the Blockchain Xcellerator to train future leaders of the Philippine Blockchain ecosystem. The program will tech-up the skills of cadets enabling them to own the future and take their careers to the next level. We do this by sharing the knowledge we’ve gained on emerging and new technology through practical use cases we are pursuing at UnionBank.”
