Aiming to give fans exciting new opportunities to connect with their favorite stars, Anotoys Collectiverse founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Oscar G. Tan-Abing Jr. announced that his company is planning to bring celebrities to the metaverse to attract more fandom.

He revealed this during his keynote address with a title “Fandom, Celebrity, and Collectibles in Web3” in Web3 Con, the largest Web 3.0 and crypto conference in Southeast Asia (SEA) to date, with thousands of futurists, venture capitalists, innovators, fintech, and webtech aficionados in attendance.

“As we gear towards mass adoption of Web3, more and more projects will depend on the celebrity effect to educate audiences and add credibility,” said Tan-Abing. “A platform like ours, which is partnered with several A-list celebrities, will be a vital tool in reaching these projects’ goals.”

Explaining that attracting fandom around mainstream celebrities would play a crucial role in the widespread adoption of Web 3.0, the CEO added that celebrity fandom also presents unique opportunities in the collectibles industry–a space in which he’s had many years of experience.

In addition, Tan-Abing emphasized that there is a chance to empower collectors through creating Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) that will allow fans to celebrate their favorite stars in multiple interactive ways.

“These [NFTs] are already highly sought after on their own, but we also link them to multiple P2E [Play-to-Earn] games, plus virtual worlds for fans to enjoy,” he stressed.

For example, fans can get access to private concerts from their celebrity idol just by owning one of their idol’s NFTs. They can also get digital versions of their superhero statuettes to display in their metaverse homes. Or they can play games on the Collectiverse Super-App and earn coins that can be used to buy more collectibles.

Starting this plan, the CEO highlighted that several Filipino celebrities and artists already signed agreement with the Anotoys Collectiverse NFT marketplace.

“We are overwhelmed with the reception and support of so many movers and shakers in the international Web3 community,” he concluded.

In early 2022, Tan-Abing launched Anotoys Collectiverse, a Web 3.0-powered fandom ecosystem where collectors can buy, sell, and trade collectibles that unlock a variety of experiences both in the real world and in the metaverse.

Prior to Anotoys Collectiverse, he also launched Anotoys Collectibles, one of the Philippines’ largest sellers of pop culture collectibles.
