Eraserhead guitarist-turned-painter Marcus Adoro released his first-ever NFT art collection at the launching of Punk Zappa NFT Gallery “The Art of Marcus Adoro” last June 23.

Together with the GIGILx, the metaverse arm of the GIGIL Advertising Agency, Adoro, who also goes by the name Punk Zappa dropped his collection online in the official art exhibit held at the Tago Jazz Bar in Quezon City

Among the artworks included in the NFT launch are his paintings which got their inspiration from the 2014 Esquire Magazine cover of Eheads members imitating the Beatle’s Abbey Road photo. The first 20 pieces dropped are digitized versions of the Eheads calendar sets that were released earlier this year.

NFT enthusiasts who were present at the exhibit had the chance to purchase the digital collectibles early with prices ranging from 0.188 to 0.388 Ethereum which is equivalent to around P12,000-P25,000 at that time.

Additionally, buyers of the artworks from the Punk Zappa collection will also be given exclusive perks; Depending on the number of purchases the buyer has made, the perks include special benefits, freebies, and even a stay in Mr. Adoro’s La Union lodging for free, surfing lessons from the man himself, and special treatment like a close friend, calling them “ZAPPAMILYA”.

NFT collectors and buyers can expect different art pieces in the collection with varied impressions of the same concept, where the band’s members are depicted as if they are walking but in different areas, with different clothes and different characters from pop culture. One version has the band walking to the beach in swim shorts and holding surfboards, while another shows them dressed up as superheroes like Batman, Superman, and Spiderman.

“Lahat ito, parang may inside joke o kuwento. Well represented kaming apat lagi, equally cool. ’Yun ang pinakaimportante, dapat cool kaming lahat (All of these have an inside joke or story. All four of us are always well represented, and are equally cool. That is what is most important, we should all be cool),” Mr. Adoro said.

Even though music has become part of his success and prominence, the Eraserheads guitarist prefers visual art and painting more than music “Mas gusto ko ang painting kasi tahimik siya. Wala man siyang tunog, pero ang dami siyang information na binibigay sa ’yo (I prefer painting because it is quiet. It may have no sound, but it gives you a lot of information),” Mr. Adoro explained.

The Punk Zappa EHeads calendar NFT series is the first collection to come from the artist’s collaboration with GigilX. “Madami [pa] kami nakatupad na susunod dito, from the Gigil group (We will have a lot more to do after this from the Gigil group),” Adoro said.
