Michael V—Filipino Comedian Dabbles Into NFTs

The comedian has recently partnered with Anotoys Collectiverse, an NFT launchpad and marketplace, to launch a collection of digitized “Fandom Collectibles.”

Filipino comedian and media personality Michael V (aka Bitoy) is now among the well-known artists that ventured into the non-fungible token (NFT) space. The comedian has recently partnered with Anotoys Collectiverse, an NFT launchpad and marketplace, to launch a collection of digitized “Fandom Collectibles.”

In a Facebook post, Michael V expressed his excitement regarding his involvement with the launching of “the first celebrity-approved NFT in the Philippines ” this coming May 2nd. The VIP access for the waitlist will first commence on April 29.

Along with Bitoy, artist and musician Marc Abaya and youtuber family Team Kramer are also part of the project. 

What are Anotoys Collectiverse?

Anotoys Collectiverse is an NFT platform—a launchpad and marketplace in one—where fans, collectors, artists, and celebrities converge from Premium Collectibles to Digital Collectibles.

According to their website, they are on a “mission to revolutionize the collectible universe by using blockchain technology to bridge the gap between physical and digital collectibles focused on Fandom Collectibles.”

Filipinos in the NFT space

In the Philippines, the NFT wave has boarded several Filipino personalities as well as entities into the space as early as 2021.

In 2021, artists and institutions such as  Nadine Lustre, Heart Evangelista, Pia Wurtzbach, Kris Lawrence, Verline Santos, Yassi Pressman and the Norwood siblingsMiss Universe Philippines, National Book Development Board (NBDB), Team Manila, La Union Surf Club (LUSC), Mask on Buttons, Titik Poetry, and graphics novel Trese entered the NFT space.
