Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach shared via Twitter that she receives hate for publicly advocating non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

“Didn’t realize there was so much hate around #NFTs especially here on Twitter! Definitely got a good dose of that this morning!” Wurtzbach wrote in a tweet last Thursday, January 27.

Despite the backlash she’s receiving, the beauty queen doesn’t seem to mind and continues to tweet about the NFT projects she joined. In fact, on January 28th she revealed that she acquired a new NFT and joined the HAPEBEAST Gang, a collective of the “Ape NFT multiverse.”

In a question posted by Gabby Dizon, co-founder of gaming guild Yield Guild Games,, he asked about how the beauty queen got into NFTs. Wurtzbach answered that she learned about NFTs through her co-beauty queen and friend Carla Lizardo. According to her, she started around November 2021.

“…then I got hooked! I invested in projects slowly & joined Discord channels. I took my time & I wanted to understand talaga and not just rely on my title to get WL. Most of what I bought are Carla’s reco hehe,” she answered.

Accordingly, she announced her participation in the same month in the NFT collection of Alpha Girl Club (AGC), an NFT project of 10,000 NFTs, through changing her profile pic with the project’s signature design of the Alpha Girl. (Read more: Pia Wurtzbach Joins NFT Project Alpha Girl Club)

Moreover, Wurtzbach’s first purchased NFT was from World of Women NFT, an NFT collection celebrating women empowerment.

“I’m not an expert nor a financial adviser so I’m not gonna force anyone to get into it.. may pera kasi involved e. But I’ll keep sharing MY experiences. I’m still a student of the NFT world hehe  #AskPia oh and I love the art hahaha,” Wurtzbach answered another question regarding how she would spread knowledge about NFT’s in the Philippines, from her #AskPia activity.

Currently, Pia Wurtzbach also acquired other NFTs from collections such as Creature World, Boss Beauties, Invisible Friends, Tasty Bones, Women Rise, and others.
