[Update] One in Four Internet Users in the Philippines Play NFT Games, Ranks 4th highest in NFT Adoption Globally

According to Finder’s NFT Gaming Adoption Report, the leading country is India with 44.8% of the population playing NFT games.

[Update] Editor’s Note: May 28, 2022. We reached out to Finder, which conducted this survey, to learn more information, such as the methodology behind the survey.

Upon checking with our publishers, they have advised that the survey was of 2,471 Internet users in the Philippines.

Finder staff said they will keep us updated regarding our request to obtain the raw data of the survey.

Out of 26 countries surveyed by global fintech platform Finder, the Philippines ranked 4th with the highest non-fungible token (NFT) adoption globally. Also, the study revealed that 25% or one out of every four Filipinos played play-to-earn (P2E) NFT games, like Axie Infinity. 

According to Finder’s NFT Gaming Adoption Report, the leading country is India with 44.8% of the population playing NFT games, followed by the United Arab Emirates and Hongkong with 39.7% and 36.3%, respectively.

Finder noted that the country’s current number and rank is “expected to increase 1.6 times by the end of 2022, with the percentage of people in the Philippines expected to hit 39%.” 

By gender, the study figured that men are more likely to play NFT games than women. In fact, 28% of Filipino men surveyed said they have played a play-to-earn game before, these numbers are roughly 1.3 times more than the 22% of women who answered the same.

“That gender gap is expected to remain the same by the end of the year, with 44% of men saying they plan on playing this year, compared to 34% of women, meaning men will remain 1.3 times more likely to have played NFT games by the end of 2022.”

In terms of age range, Filipino young adults and adults aged 18-34 are most likely to play P2E at 28%.

Last February, the Philippines topped a prior survey of Finder regarding NFT adaptation and ownerships across 20 countries, where 28,000 people participated. In the said study, 32% of Filipino internet users own an NFT, the highest percentage among the 20 countries. (Read more: here are More NFT Owners in the Philippines Than Anywhere Else)

Accordingly, GWI, formerly GlobalWebIndex, revealed that the Philippines ranked 2nd in terms of ownership of cryptocurrency according to its 2021 Q4 broad global survey. (Read more: Philippines Ranks 2nd in Crypto Ownership – Survey)
