Sky Mavis Introduces New Updates to Ronin Wallet

- Sky Mavis, the developer of Axie Infinity, has introduced new updates to the Ronin wallet in its March Newsletter.
- The updates include:
- The Ronin Wallet Social Login, which allows easy login using social media accounts.
- The integration of Threshold Key Management, which will simplify the process of wallet recovery.
- The viewing of Axie Accessories in the Collectibles tab, which will display Axie Accessories in the Collectibles tab.
- The UI updates, which will enhance the UI of the Ronin wallet.
- However, Sky Mavis reminded Ronin’s users that existing wallets created through recovery phrases will remain unchanged.
In its March Newsletter, Axie Infinity developer Sky Mavis has launched the new updates on Ronin wallet, the native wallet for the popular blockchain game. The update includes the Ronin Wallet Social Login, the use of Threshold Key Management, the display of Axie Accessories in the Collectibles tab, and the update of the wallet’s QR code display.
Social Login
Through the Ronin Wallet Social Login feature, Sky Mavis confirmed that Axie players and investors can create a Ronin Wallet with just their Google, Apple, Facebook, or Twitter accounts, noting that although the social login will allow seamless onboarding with email or social accounts, existing Ronin Wallets will remain unchanged.
Ronin Wallet is a crypto wallet designed especially for Axie Infinity. It can be used in the ecosystem of the Axie Infinity game, and it is also compatible with other non-fungible token games on the Ronin Blockchain. Prior to this update, players and investors must create passwords and note their given seed phrases. Users can also connect their cryptocurrency and token wallet Metamask to allow them to easily cash in and out of their Ronin wallet.

Integration of Threshold Key Management
The Threshold Key Management, or tKey Management, is a feature that will simplify the process of wallet recovery without compromising security..
Instead of utilizing the traditional method of wallet recovery, where users must store a single private key in a secure location and rely on a recovery phrase in case the key is lost or stolen, tKey Management splits a private key into three parts called “key shares,” which is expected to ease the complexity of the recovery process.
Each key share is stored in a separate location and has its own recovery mechanism. The three shares are shown as security factors under the Recovery Kit setting in the wallet:
- The first is called the Sky Mavis Account share. It is linked to the Sky Mavis account, and is further split and distributed in a decentralized network.
- Next is the Device share. It is located in the user’s device’s storage and is encrypted with a device password, PIN code, or biometric identification.
- Lastly, the Recovery Password share. It is secured with a password of choice of the user and is recommended to use a strong one.
“You’ll need at least two out of the three key shares to access your Ronin wallet. This simplifies the process of recovering your key while eliminating the risk of a single point of failure in recovery phrase storage. If you want to restore your wallet on a new device, you’ll need to use your backup share,” the developer explained.
View Axie Accessories
To create a seamless and user-friendly gaming experience within its wallet, Ronin’s new update will allow users to conveniently view all of their Axie Collectibles on the Collectibles tab:
“We’re excited to share that Axie Accessories are now displayed in the Collectibles tab! View all your Axie Collectibles from Mr. Ube to Land Plots in one place. Gaming is in Ronin’s DNA, and this is another key step in making infinite experiences easy, intuitive, and accessible from our wallet.”
UI Updates
The last update in the announcement is the wallet’s QR code display to reveal full Ronin addresses instead of abbreviated ones. The said update is expected to make it easier for users to double-check their addresses before sharing the QR code.
Moreover, Ronin also claimed that the updated user interface (UI) will make the Wallet Connect QR code more visible and faster to find, highlighting that the wallet managing experience has been “revamped to allow more seamless switching between different addresses in the same wallet.”
UI is the point of interaction between humans and the computer, device, application, or website.
