YGG to Sponsor-a-Scholar with Coinbase
As an advocate of the metaverse, the exchange expressed that it is “excited to support” this side of the industry.

Filipino-led play-to-earn community Yield Guild Games (YGG) acquired support from the US-based cryptocurrency platform Coinbase. The partnership aims to bring more assets available for scholarships.
“There are currently more players wanting #playtoearn scholarships than there are game assets to meet the demand,” YGG wrote in a tweet as it disclosed its collaboration with the cryptocurrency exchange.
YGG raised hopes that the initiative will allow it to add new players worldwide.
In a separate tweet, Coinbase also announced its participation in the project. As an advocate of the metaverse, the exchange expressed that it is “excited to support” this side of the industry.
Last year, YGG shared that they have reached a total of ten thousand (10,000) scholars all over the world.
Currently, the community supports play-to-earn games such as Axie Infinity, Ember Sword, F1 Delta Time, Guild of Guardians, Illuvium, League of Kingdoms, The Sandbox, Splinterlands, Star Atlas, and Zed Run.
Moreover, last December, YGG disclosed that its first regionally-focused subDAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization), Yield Guild Games Southeast Asia (YGG SEA), has raised US$15 million across two rounds of fundraising to support adoption of play-to-earn gaming in Southeast Asia. Initially, the guild will focus on Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand before expanding throughout the region.
