Starting August 1, 2019, gamers can enjoy a game of Space Invaders through the Gameworks Arcade Machine located at Acceler8 by UNIONSPACE, a co-working space with key locations across Metro Manila. This partnership was entered with BlockchainSpace Philippines, a blockchain community platform dedicated to promoting all things blockchain. Blockchain Space Philippines also takes residence at Acceler8’s Legazpi branch where the arcade machine will be available.

The Gameworks Arcade Machine is the first blockchain-based arcade machine in the Philippines. Powered by the GWX token, gamers can play the games available in the arcade machine with a chance to win through competing for the weekly and daily leaderboards.

What is Gameworks?

Gameworks is an expansive token-centric ecosystem that provides game publishers and game developers with a framework for monetization, security, and licensing. Since November 2019, Gameworks has been building a suite of products such as the Gameworks mobile wallet, the Gameworks Token Depot, and Gameworks Game central.

What is BlockchainSpace?

BlockchainSpace is a blockchain community platform promoting the growth of both local and international blockchain communities in the Philippines. BlockchainSpace provides event and advisory services to its clients to understand the Philippines’ blockchain ecosystem including legal and regulatory frameworks.

Building a Tokenized Gaming Ecosystem

“We believe that these are vital steps towards enabling game publishers and gamers to take part in the emerging blockchain-based gaming economy.” says Lance Pormarejo, Marketing & Business Development lead of Gameworks

Peter Ing of BlockchainSpace adds:

“The reputation of blockchain and cryptocurrency has been tarnished over the last years with the prevalence of scams and get rich quick schemes. A tangible example such as Gameworks’ Arcade Machine helps educate people that there are real businesses being built on the blockchain and that the new technology adds real value as an enabler of new incentive design. This arcade machine allows participants to enjoy familiar games with new rewards built-in.”

The Gameworks Arcade Machine Timeline

The Gameworks Arcade Machine debuted last April 2019 @ Gamecon Philippines 2019. This is where the first iteration of the console was shown to the public along with the leaderboard system.

The arcade machine was also showcased during the De La Salle University College of Computer Science Week held last July 2019 with over 100+ plays and a jackpot prize awarded to the top scorer for the week’s event.

As of today, the arcade machine is in constant iteration, improvement, and expansion with regards to its game engine and the expansion of games that will be available. Gameworks plans on deploying these machines nationwide through co-working spaces, cafes, vanilla arcades, and similar hubs.

“We value innovation and we encourage game developers to conceptualize games that can be run through the arcade console may it be through in-house development, hackathons, and partnerships with game developer organizations.” -Jay Fajardo, CEO of Gameworks

Gameworks is powered by Proudcloud a full-stack software engineering firm that does blockchain engineering development on NEM, Ethereum, Hyperledger, and Multichain.

Being the first of its kind, Gameworks invites anyone and everyone to give the arcade machine a try. Stay tuned for further announcements on the next locations for the Gameworks Arcade Machine. For announcements and updates join the Gameworks Telegram Channel ( and its social media channels.
