Recently, I was finally able to make my generic controller communicate with my computer. This allows me to play games I purchased on Steam without using the keyboard. My job involves using the keyboard all day. It’s nice to not press it after a day’s work.

On the topic of Steam, I heard you can buy games on steam using bitcoin. So naturally, I tried doing that. However, I could not see the option when I was paying earlier today.

A couple of Google search later, I found out that Valve actually removed the option on December 7, 2017, citing the volatility of bitcoin and its transaction fees.

Overall

So, after reading the above procedures, how do you feel about topping your Steam wallet with bitcoin? As for me, I think it’s a bit tedious. No, honestly, after Steam removed the option (Fact: I did not know if the Bitcoin Payment for Steam is supported in the Philippines before), the usual one to four steps becomes 17 steps.

Steam is also right; the transaction fees are very high particularly with bitcoin. With litecoin, however, it seems the transaction fees are a bit minimal:

Final Words

If anything, this whole activity proves that buying games on Steam using bitcoin is still possible, albeit with some workarounds. Perfect for anyone with a couple of bitcoins to spare. Also, this is the first use case scenario I experienced with paying litecoins. And I can confirm that the transaction fees are really lower. Will it stay that way? Or will it suffer the same state as bitcoin when its popularity explodes? I will leave that question to you. In the meantime, I’m going to play some games.
