After a two-month hiatus, BitPinas Webcast is back together with Michael Mislos of BitPinas and Chiin Gandia of Emfarsis as hosts, and Jen Bilango of BlockchainSpace, Ismael Jerusalem of Ownly, and Aldrin Rabino aka Crypto4chun as guest speakers.

What happened during the BitPinas Webcast 14?

Market Outlook with Aldrin Rubino

Crypto4chun started the discussion by emphasizing his outlook for the market, including Bitcoin.

“Maraming mga positive catalysts sana na nangyari before, pero ‘yung mas nag-matter sigurop sakin dito na fundamentals, na sobrang halaga, is yung pagtaas ng interest rate ng Fed sa US,” said Rubino.

[“There are few positive catalysts that happened before, but the fundamental that mattered for me, that is very important, is the escalation of the interest rate of the Fed of US.”]

The crypto analyst is talking about the Federal Reserve of the United States of America setting to raise interest rates after it hiked for the first time since 2018 in March.

Rubino called it a negative catalyst that made the price of Bitcoin and other crypto to continuously decline.

However, he assured the viewers that the current bearish sign of the market is part of the trend of the market itself.

“Siguro, itong nangyayari (ngayon) in cryptocurrency is just the part of the trend lang talaga eh,” Rubino added.

[“What happens right now in cryptocurrency is just part of the trend.”]

Cyrpto4chun is speaking about the four stages of a market cycle, namely: accumulation phase, advancing phase, distribution phase, then declining phase.

If you think na price actions are declining na, you should part your assets sa mga stablecoin like USDT, USDC, mga ganoong scenario,” he concluded.

[“If you think that the price actions are starting to decline, you should part your assets to stablecoins like USDT, USDC, in scenarios like that.”]

Stablecoins are crypto that depends on the amount of fiat, it should be in the ratio of 1:1. It is categorized into three: Fiat-backed, crypto-backed and Algorithmic.

Crypto Meetups

Meetings, events, and seminars are among the exciting parts to learn about the market, to witness an advertisement, and to be part of the community.

However, safety protocols due to the Covid-19 Pandemic prohibited mass gatherings, including in-person meetups.

But the community still found ways to connect to each other, like through Discord, Twitter Spaces, and Webcasts.

“Noong nagkapandemic, we realized, doon lumabas ‘yung (idea ng) scholarship model, and we were one of the first guilds (that implemented that idea),” said Jen Bilango.

[“When pandemic struck, we realized the idea of scholarship model, and we were on of the first guilds that implemented that idea.”]

She added that during the pandemic, their team saw the growth in the interest in play-to-earn and how the number of scholars in blockchain game Axie Infinity multiplied.

Yet, the BlockchainSpace Regional Expansion Lead emphasized that we cannot really replicate the bonding relationship and conversation in IRL (in real life) events, so their team brought back guild meetups.

On the other hand, when the hosts asked the speakers about the ideal set-up of meetups, if it will be in-person or just through online, Bilango answered that meetups should be hybrid.

“To some extent, magiging hybrid, so for those that will not be able to attend, they might livestream (that live event),” she added.

[“To some extent, meetups will be transformed into hybrid, so for those that will not be able to attend, they might livestream that live event.”]

Meanwhile, Ismael Jerusalem agreed to this idea and called it “Online and IRL Event.”

“It’s something that we can optimize the best of both worlds. It’s not something that we need to weigh in kung ano ‘yung mas better over the other kasi we can optimize both. We have audiences online; we also have audiences in real life,” the CEO of Ownly concluded.
