Nix Eniego, the new lead for the Philippines under Sky Mavis, joined the 13th episode of the BitPinas Webcast last March 10. In the episode, he discussed his crypto journey, his previous jobs, and his current work as the country lead.
Before he joined the Axie Infinity development team last month, he was the former Assistant Vice President of Bangko Sentral-licensed cryptocurrency exchange Philippine Digital Asset Exchange (PDAX). According to him, his new position will allow him to fully support the expansion of Axie Infinity in the Philippines. (Read more: Ex-PDAX AVP Nix Eniego Joins Axie Infinity Developer Sky Mavis)
This guesting is Eniego’s second time in the webcast, the first one was in November 2021 where he stated that Axie Infinity is still the opening act for blockchain games.
BitPinas Webcast is the weekly show aired live on BitPinas’ Facebook Page, hosted by BitPinas’ Senior Editor Michael Mislos, and co-hosted by Chin Gandia, Associate Consultant of Emfarsis, together with various guest discussing about cryptocurrency adoption, NFT space, blockchain and other Fintech related topics.
“I found myself in tech. I was really interested in tech,” Eniego expressed.
In the introductory part of the webcast, Niego shared that even before cryptocurrency became big, he was already learning about marketing and tech start ups. He also revealed that he used to work for Facebook (now called Meta) “informally” as a community circle lead. These experiences eventually became his foundation into the crypto industry.
“Three words: community is everything. It’s really everything. We can go as close as Axie as an example; Axie wouldn’t be there if not for the community. Axie (would not be able to) do what it’s doing if not for the community… it is like maybe one of the most powerful movements in this industry. I’m a big believer of that,” Eniego on his key takeaway from his experience being a community leader.
In 2021, Eniego joined PDAX to pursue his passion for gaming and cryptocurrency. According to him, when he was there he was already suggesting to list Axie Infinity’s Smooth Love Potion (SLP) and Axie Infinity Shards (AXS), these tokens are convertible to real life money, as early as 2020 in the exchange. The tokens were successfully launched on the platform last February before Eniego left its team. (Read more: PDAX to Launch Axie Infinity Tokens SLP and AXS Soon)
“I really felt strongly about NFT (non-fungible token) gaming being one of the main vehicles for (cryptocurrency) mass adoption,”
As one of crypto pioneers, Eniego also expressed his happiness to see the current and ongoing mass adoption of blockchain and cryptocurrency in the Philippines, noting that “it was great.”
For now, Eniego assures that Sky Mavis are gearing up to load a better Axie Infinity, backing up what Andrew Campbell (aka Zyori) stated last week when he attended the Episode 12 of BitPInas webcast. (Read more: Zyori Discusses What’s Next For Axie Infinity Esports and Origin in the Philippines)
The new game of Axie Infinity, Origin (battles v3), is set to launch in Q1 of 2021. In a twitter space last February 16, Zyori and game products lead Philip La discussed the mechanics and features of the upcoming gameplay.
