With the partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) through the ICT Industry Development Bureau (IIDB), the first-ever annual Global Blockchain Summit (GBS) is set to happen at the Bataan People’s Center from October 26 to 27, 2022, HRTECH500, the event’s organizer, announced.

Cong Maria Angela Garcia, 3rd District of Bataan, clarified that the potential and benefits of blockchain is the reason why Bataan is supporting the industry.

Keynote from Binance Philippines

Kenneth Stern of Binance:

“The only way to fight cybercriminals is to bring the best technology from the world to the PH.” (Previously, Binance, in partnership with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordination Center (CICC) conducted the “Cryptocurrency and Cybersecurity Training Program” in Quezon City.)

Stern also highlighted initiatives of Binance that will hone the skills of Filipinos in web3 that would lead to jobs.

Bibingka Approach for Crypto Education

Stern uses the Bibingka approach, the top and bottom must have the same temperature to be cooked.

Thus, education from top to bottom is through:

• law enforcement training
• university partnerships (they have talked with up diliman to have university roadshow)
• Government support
• Giving back to the community (we wanna support community meetups and local companies that have their own event)

PANEL: Talent Readiness of Web 3 Philippines

After the lunch break, the event goes back to a panel discussion with Filipino web3 tech leaders, Christian Blanquera (CTO, Shoppable Business), Kristian Quirapas (Co-founder of Web3 Philippines), and Angeline Viray (CEO of TalentHero). The panel will be moderated by Emerson Fonseca (CEO of NEM Philippines). Their topic is about “Talent-readiness for a Web3-enabled Philippines.”
