ManilArt Features NFTs with Binance
Crypto Exchange Binance hosted NFT discussions at ManilART’22.

For its 14th year, the longest-running visual arts fair in the Philippines, ManilART, focused on the theme “Forging Futures” highlighted non-fungible tokens (NFTs) through crypto exchange Binance, aiming to promote and expand digital literacy in the Philippines.
Following the art fair’s themes “Visions for a Future Reimagined” and “Continuing Legacies” for 2020 and 2021, respectively, the art fair opted for a “phygital” exhibit, which is a mix of physical and digital art installations, this year. The exhibit was held at the SMX Convention Center in SM Aura until Sunday, October 23.
In addition, ManilART’22 also featured art installation by German media artists Juliana and Andrey Vrady called Joy United, which explored and reflected the moods of fairgoers in real-time.
This was possible through machine sensors that “read” the guests’ emotions and ran them through the artists’ software codes; an artificial intelligence (AI) technology would then generate an artwork based on the collective’s feelings. The art is interpreted as vibrant light and color.
Aside from the abovementioned exhibitors, ManiArt also had participation from 371 Art Space, AC 388, Annual Sculpture Review, Art For Space, Artes Orientes, AT Art Gallery, Dry Brush, Espacio Manila, Galerie Artes, Galerie Du Soleil, Galerie Francesca, Galerie Raphael, Galleria Nicolas, G9 Online, Gallery Nine, Historia Arts, M Gallery MNL, Museo de Pacis, Philippine Art Nation, Pugad ni Art, Renaissance Gallery, The Artologist, Village Art Gallery, and Ysobel Art Gallery.
In a recently conducted Albay Multimedia Arts Convention (AMAC), a two-day event happening at Ayala Malls Legazpi in Albay, NFTs were also a part of their highlights, where four Filipino NFT artists became speakers to talk about the different aspects and use cases of the digital asset. NFTs did not only enter the local art fairs, as Filipino artists and galleries participated in the CryptoArt Week Asia (CAWA), a festival of art, music, performance, and experiences that took place in Singapore on September 23-30, 2022.
