Crypto meetups in the Philippines are no longer limited to the National Capital Region (NCR) as gatherings are also happening one after another in the Bicol Region.
This coming October 8 and 9, well-known artists in the non-fungible token (NFT) space will be gracing the comeback of the annual Albay Multimedia Arts Convention (AMAC), a two-day event happening at Ayala Malls Legazpi in Albay. AMAC is one of the biggest events celebrating creativity through art and tech in South Luzon, cultivating the grass root creative community since 2016.
“For this year’s AMAC, we will explore the intersection of art and technology in the biggest event celebrating creativity in the Bicol Region,” their website states.
“We’re so excited to add more innovation to the event by exploring the intersection of art and technology. There are also lots of exciting community-led activities for this year’s AMAC. And our hearts are so fulfilled to see how the event grow from dozens to hundreds up to thousands of attendees since 2016,” Ismael Jerusalem, CEO of Ownly said in a statement.
About 2000 attendees are expected to attend, experience, and enjoy more than 50 artists and brands that will participate in the event’s art fair, art exhibit, and music jam. Attendees are also encouraged to join their photowalk and listen to their four art talk speakers.
They noted that only the Art Talks are ticketed while the other activities are open and free for everyone to enjoy.
Meanwhile, the speakers for this year’s event are illustrator and doodle artist Lei Melendres; forerunner, artist, and digital nomad Jopet Arias; spoken word artist Verlin Santos; and creative director Karl Vasquez.
Lei Melendres will discuss the topic “Illustration With NFT.” He is a full-time freelance illustrator whose art style is focused on illustrations, specifically doodle art.
On the other hand, Jopet Arias, the co-founder of the art collective CryptoArt PH and one of the forerunners of the Crypto Art movement in the country, will talk about the topic “Fine Art with NFT.”
He was also included in the first batch of artists that were featured on CAWA. Last January, Arias was among the five artists to launch the group exhibition of the physical art exhibit titled, ‘Begin with a second, a mirror of the first’. He was also one of the organizers of #tezmasPH, the first ever NFT-minting contest in the Philippines together with TezosPHL and BitPinas publication.
Also, Karl Vasquez, the Founder and Creative Director of the community-based streetwear brand Bounce Back PH, will tackle the topic “Branding/Graphic Design With NFT.” He is known for being the artist of the NFT Collection, Old Chap Club.
Lastly, John Verlin Santos, the founder of the Non-Government Organization (NGO) collective Titik Poetry, which aims to make art a platform for education, will discuss the topic “Spoken Word in NFT.”
The Art Talk Pass
The ticket for the art talk costs ₱599, inclusive of an AMAC2022 X Lei Melendres shirt and a free Mint slot for Mustachio Rascals NFT.
