Aiming to empower the next generation with knowledge about blockchain trends and cryptocurrency, Global Miranda Miner Group (GMMG), a firm founded by popular Filipino crypto influencer Coach Miranda Miner, or Arlone Paul Abello in real life, led a back-to-back discussion on the sustainability of cryptocurrencies with the students and faculty members of the Junior Confederation of Finance Associations (JCFA) and the National University’s (NU’s) Finance Executives.

CrypTalk: University Caravan

In a statement, Abello said that his team’s presentation with the JCFA and NU is part of their “CrypTalk: University Caravan,” which has already visited 12 Philippine Universities, including the University of Sto. Tomas, Ateneo de Naga, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Rizal Technological University, University of San Jose-Recoletos, and Holy Angel University.

“Understanding cryptocurrency enhances students’ financial literacy and decision-making skills, empowering them to navigate this complex landscape with confidence. Learning about blockchain opens up opportunities for students to engage with these platforms and potentially earn income, which can be a valuable skill in the digital economy,” the #CryptoPH influencer said.

For GMGG, their crypto roadshow plays a “crucial role” in preparing the next generation of finance professionals to thrive in this digital era and emerging technologies.

“With the vast potential of cryptocurrencies and DeFi, there are also risks associated with scams, fraudulent schemes, and security vulnerabilities. Students need to be aware of the precautions they should take to protect themselves and their assets in the web3 environment,” explained Abello.

Future Plans

Meanwhile. Abello also emphasized that their educational initiatives do not stop in Luzon as their goal is to host roadshows to more colleges in Visayas and Mindanao.

The group will also visit Republic Central Colleges in Pampanga as its first stop for the academic year 2023-2024, where it is expected to mount a discussion exploring blockchain and cryptocurrency trends and their impact on finance, regulations, and security.

“As the demand for crypto and blockchain education continues to grow, Coach Miranda Miner sees a future where higher education curricula include specialized courses on blockchain, cryptocurrency, and Finance 4.0, emphasizing decentralized finance, financial inclusion, risk management, and ethical practices,” GMMG concluded.

Crypto Education in PH

This is not the first time that an educational roadshow to universities in the country has happened.

Last February, educational firm Proof of Learn, the company behind the “part game, part learning” platform Metacrafters.io, conducted an educational roadshow to at least a dozen institutions, spearheaded by Co-Founders Sheila Marcelo and Kevin Yang.

Further, blockchain education-focused The Blockchain Lead Organization & Knowledge Center (The BLOKC) recently announced its partnership with Mapua University’s School of Information Technology. The collaboration aims to provide the university with initiatives such as structured internships, faculty training, curriculum review, blockchain program development, and more.

Moreover, Binance Academy, the educational arm of global cryptocurrency exchange Binance, has partnered with Coursera, one of the world’s leading online learning platforms for blockchain education. The collaboration seeks to offer global educational opportunities through a diverse range of learning programs set to be launched over the following months.
