Tezmas NFT Minting Contest Concludes With 101 Global Participants
Tezos Philippines, in partnership with TZ APAC, a key Tezos adoption entity in Asia, has successfully hosted the 3rd Annual Tezmas, a celebrated global digital art minting contest. This event saw artists and creators from across the globe minting NFTs that embody the essence of Christmas as celebrated in diverse cultures.
Ombeline Rosset, an esteemed art curator at OBJKT, a prominent NFT marketplace on Tezos, expressed her excitement about participating as a judge:
“I was very honoured to take part of this year’s Tezmas as a judge. The choice was difficult as there were so many good pieces! I would like to thank everyone involved. It was exciting for me to see the community coming together for this event!”

The contest attracted over 100 entries from artists worldwide, including not just the Philippines but also Thailand, the United States, and Brazil. These artworks centered around the iconic parol (Christmas Lantern), brilliantly capturing its thematic significance.
The competition’s top five winners were awarded a combined prize pool of $1,500 in tez. Additionally, other categories saw prizes totaling $1,700 in tez and $285 in Tezos Pepe, totaling โฑ193,000 (around $3,485), along with exclusive NFTs from the leading NFT platform, Scarletbox.
TZ APAC, BLINC (Bitshares Labs), and contemporary artist Mark Constantine Inducil contributed to the initial prize pool.

“This year’s Tezmas brought a lot of emotions with the theme Parol. Every artist gives their interpretation of how Parol’s essence in celebrating Christmas. Some gave us joy, some gave us warmth, and some made us shed a tear too. Also, the event is global, there are a lot of talented artists around the world that highlight the artistry not only in the local scene but internationally too. I’m glad many participated in the event and hopefully more and more people will join Tezmas next year.”

The Tezmas 2023 Judges Panel featured distinguished professionals from the art, technology, and blockchain sectors:
- Sheree Gotuaco – the founder of Scarletbox, recognized as Asia’s premier NFT launchpad
- Ombeline Rosset – widely acclaimed as Cabline, serving as the art curator for OBJKT, an NFT marketplace on Tezos
- Natasha Lau, Institution Lead for Arts and Events at TZ APAC
- Kimi Delgado, representing Galeria Paloma, a distinguished multi-genre art gallery and advisory firm
- Henry Banayat, Director of Business Development at Bitshares Labs (BLINC)
- Jopet Arias, a prominent Filipino artist and co-founder of Crypto Art Philippines.
Submissions were evaluated based on theme relevance, artistic execution, and emotional storytelling, with a maximum score of 30 points. Each judge curated a top-five list, from which the finalists were collaboratively selected for the final stage of judging.
Unique prizes were awarded to selections by Gotuaco and Banayat: an NFT from National Artist Larry Alcala’s collection and 500 tez, respectively.

Additional awards included 100 tez from Aswang NFT, 500,000 Tezos Pepe tokens from Tezos Pepe account, and a BLINC-organized raffle awarding 500 tez (100 tez to 5 winners). Moreover, a separate raffle selected 15 winners: those who ranked 6 – 10 in the competition and 10 random entries received 25 tez each.
