Jose T. Joya (1931-1995) is a National Artist for Visual Arts, awarded to him in 2003.
He is a painter and multimedia artist who is known for using rice paper and creating an authentic Filipino abstract idiom that transcended foreign influences.
Most of Joyaโs paintings of harmonious colors were inspired by Philippine landscapes, such as green rice paddies and golden fields of harvest, while the curvilinear forms of his paintings often recall the colorful and multilayered โkipingโ of the Pahiyas festival.
Some of his best-known works include Beethoven Listening to the Blues, Space Transfiguration, Hills of Nikko, Abstraction, Dimension of Fear, Naiad, Torogan, and Cityscape.
Joya is also known for his 1958 landmark painting Granadean Arabesque, a work on canvas big enough to be called a mural, featuring swipes and gobs of impasto and sand.
His record sale for a painting is about $2.2 million.
Meanwhile, Andre Baldovino is Jose Joyaโs grandnephew. He is a contemporary artist.
He is the son of Dick Baldovino, who is known for contributing to the development of photography as an art in the Philippines.
Andre took Bachelor of Arts, Major in Political Science at the Ateneo de Manila University, then took Bachelor of Fine Arts at UP Diliman.
His style as an artist is Abstract Expression, using monochromatic colors with the occasional striking colors as a focal point of his works.
His piece entitled โMudslideโ is an exploration of abstract compositions, incorporating a subdued palette, laying a focus on structural aspects of the abstraction rather than color.

According to Scarletboxโs announcement, all artworks dropped are One-of-Ones with historical value and story, different from the other, with beautiful animation.
โItโs a collaboration of 2 generations of artists in one work, all of whom have decades of respected reputation. Itโs the first memento of these 4 artists to enter the metaverse with their first NFT, quite a special once-in-a-lifetime moment. There is a lot of value in oneโs first entry,โ Scarletbox concluded.
