  • PH-based data aggregator BlockchainSpace (BSPC) announced its acquisition of the majority of IP House MetaSports.
  • According to the joint statement of the two involved organizations, the acquisition is a strategic move based on their thorough understanding of the market, with the goal of stability during the crypto winter.

In a bid to make waves in web3 and bring value to its stakeholders for years to come, data aggregator and infrastructure provider for guilds and web3 projects BlockchainSpace (BSPC) announced that it has recently acquired the majority of Intellectual Property (IP) House, MetaSports.

MetaSports, which stands for “Metaverse Esport,” is an organization, content hub, and media agency covering the esports and the web3 gaming industry. It was launched in late 2021 by SEAesport, an esport broadcasting team in South East Asia.

In addition, MetaSports is also focusing on web3 and web2 gaming IPs across the esports experiences, creator networks, and news and media verticals. Some of the organization’s gaming IPs include Lunacian Sports League, a professionally organized and longest-running Axie Infinity esports league; Kookoo, a known content creator in the country; Overdrive Studios, a Philippine-based, design-focused studio for esports brands; and Community Showdown, another studio for esports brands.

Meanwhile, BSPC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder Peter Ing has highlighted in a statement that their collaboration with MetaSports will bring more value to the partner guilds under BSPC’s flagship product, Guild Hub:

“BlockchainSpace is looking to scale faster this year. It doesn’t matter if it’s a bull market or bear market—innovation doesn’t stop. We’ve always been focused on strengthening our resources to support our mission, with a more consolidated approach through Guild Hub.”

The GuildHub is the latest project of BSPC launched in December 2022 in line with the celebration of PH Web3 Fest. The hub aims to aid guilds to manage their communities and formally legitimize their businesses.

“Esports and guilds are not going away as they are integral to Web3 gaming. Metasports will be essential in serving these guilds,” Ing added, noting that the MetaSports acquisition is instrumental to fostering further business growth which will allow BSPC to continue supporting the community.

In a statement, SEAesport noted that since the launch, MetaSports has “quickly proven its value in the space in Web3 through the Lunacian Sports League (LSL), the first professionally organized and longest-running esports league for Axie Infinity.”

Just last year, the organization also established its Creator Business Management which was kickstarted with famous content creator KookooTV as their first creator partner. The partnership aimed to develop a new blueprint for web3 content creator management and bridge professionalism from web2 standards to the next-gen profile of web3 gaming content creators.

Despite the still ongoing crypto bear market, the two organizations still express optimism and view the acquisition as a strategic move based on a thorough understanding of the market, highlighting that they will be able to navigate through the crypto winter with BSPC’s readily available and growing data sets through Guild Hub.

“We saw an incredible opportunity to grow and invest in more IPs, and that’s when we started to seek venture. In BlockchainSpace, we found a partner that would be the backbone which we could build on Web3. By tapping BlockchainSpace’s infrastructure, we will finally be able to build technology-backed IPs, which is a powerful next step for us,” said Joe Josue, the CEO and Co-founder of Metasports, displaying his confidence in this acquisition which will strengthen their commitment to an enhanced experience around gaming.

Lastly, BSPC and Metasports claimed that they are eyeing scalability this year, and both of them are looking forward to bringing in big changes that will not only impact their business development but most especially contribute to the success and longevity of the already-growing web3 community.
