Gcash Partners with Generika Drugstore, to Offer Cashless Payment for Medicine

In its recent collaboration with Generika Drugstore, leading mobile payments firm Gcash will now offer its clients cashless payment for medicine. This initiative aims  to provide safer and more convenient ways to pay and process transactions as well as to aid the increasing need for medicine during the pandemic.

Through this collaboration, customers can now safely pay in 435 Generika Drugstore branches nationwide using the GCash QR Scan to Pay and cash-in to their GCash wallets in selected branches; as well as transact with ease on Generika Drugstore App, available on both IOS and android, through Gcash’s e-commerce feature, GLife.

“GCash and Generika Drugstore both aim to provide solutions to make Filipino lives better every day. With this partnership, we are giving broader access to quality, affordable medicine to more Filipinos, which is vital during these trying times,” GCash President and Chief Executive Officeraid Martha Sazon stated.

Atty. Yet Abarca, Generika Drugstore President and CEO, noted that their collaboration with Gcash is “even more timely and meaningful as Generika Drugstore celebrates its 18th Anniversary.”

“This year, we are working towards the digitization of our stores to ensure that we continue to expand access to quality and affordable medicines and healthcare essentials that the Filipino family deservesOur partnership with GCash enhances our ability to deliver this mission,” she added.

Aside from ensuring the customer’s safety, Generika also prioritizes the health and safety of its employees, and their partnership with GCash will serve as a safe and fast prerequisite for their employees.

Recently, Gcash reported its stable growth; whereinits digital savings bank, GSave, has doubled from PHP 5 billion in 2020, to over PHP 9 billion in just six months. And after its launch last year, Gcash’s investment platform GInvest has helped the firm to acquire 70% of the domestic market. In September, the mobile e-wallet has also collaborated with Singapore-based regional insurect firm Igloo to launch the first ever online shopping insurance protection that aims to provide security to users when they transact online through Gcash. In the same month, GCash also expanded its cash-in networks to 60,000 nationwide as it partnered with 9 leading brands, namely ExpressPay, DA5, Panalo Express, SouthStar Drug, Robinsons Supermarket, Shopwise, The Marketplace, Robinsons Easymart, and No Brand, in response to their aim to reach more Filipinos especially during this pandemic. In addition, last August, the firm’s CEO Sazon stated in a press briefing that the Gcash will “definitely going to make cryptocurrency and crypto trading available to its users”, in response to the crypto trading becoming more and more prevalent in the country.
