Two days after its launch, Proof Collectives’ Moonbirds, a collection of 10,000 pixelated-bird non-fungible tokens (NFT), has become the top NFT collection with over $281 million (~₱14 billion as of writing) in sales volume, according to data aggregator CryptoSlam.

With more than 6,600 NFTs sold and a floor price of 18.94 ETH each (~₱3,017,622 as of writing), Moonbirds has remained the number 1 NFT collection in NFT marketplace Opensea since its launch last April 16.

The collection already ranks among hugely successful collections like Azuki, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and CryptoPunks. Azuki was in the top spot last week, selling a total of 30 billion pesos in sales volume. (Read more: What is Azuki NFT: A ₱30 Billion-Sold Web3 Project)

Moreover, probably one of the drivers for the success of the collection was the people behind the Moonbird project: Proof Collective, a group of 1,000 NFT collectors. Members include notable NFT figures, including artist Mike Winkelmann, known as Beeple, and investor Gary Vaynerchuk.

What is Moonbird NFT?

Moonbird NFt is the newest collaborative profile picture NFT project of the Proof Collective. The collection was a total of 10,000 tokens, 7,875 were allotted for those who won the raffle; 2,000 for Proof Collective members; and 125 for distribution by the Moonbirds team.

The moonbird raffle was open to the public and they were guaranteed to have access to mint, or create, Moonbird NFTs upon their launch. One mint was allowed per raffle winner for 2.5 ETH, or about ₱40,400, according to the Moonbirds website.

Moreover, those who hold Moonbirds can also “nest,” (stake) their NFTs to “accrue additional benefits as total nested time accumulates.” This means that NFT holders can get upgrades like “enhanced drops and rewards” over time.
