  • The Red Bull Doodle Art Contest 2023 will integrate non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and digital collectibles as rewards for participants. The event will be a “phygital” combination of physical and digital, with winners receiving a free NFT minted on the Polygon blockchain and a unique digital collectible.
  • The contest is open to artists who are at least 18 years old, and applications will be accepted until April 2, 2023. Finalists from 60 participating countries will be chosen, and their artworks will be displayed in an exhibition with a national winner per country selected based on creativity and artistic skill.
  • The Red Bull Doodle Art Contest finale will be held in Amsterdam from May 25 to 28, 2023, with winners collaborating with professional artists to represent their country with an exclusive NFT doodle. The event will feature workshops, creative sessions, a public gallery, and the announcement of the global winner.

This year’s edition of the Red Bull Doodle Art Contest is going phygital, a combination of a physical and digital event, as participants will receive a free non-fungible token (NFT) minted on the Polygon blockchain, while the national winners will also receive a unique digital collectible as a reward, the organizers announced.

“Red Bull Doodle Art is a global competition that empowers a new generation of artists by inviting students and creatives to let their minds wander and put their imaginative doodles on paper. Doodling is a simple way to bring out your inner child, relieve stress, generate ideas, improve memory, and build artistry while allowing people who find words difficult to express their emotions in a different way,” Red Bull said in a statement

According to the firm, the application window for the contest will be open until April 2, 2023. It is open to artists at least 18 years old who can submit their doodles digitally or on the official Red Bull Doodle Art frame, which can all be downloaded and submitted on the official website of Red Bull.

In addition, after the application window, finalists from the 60 participating countries will be chosen, and their doodle artworks will be displayed in an exhibition in various locations around the globe. While the doodle is being displayed, a panel of experts will select a national winner per country based on creativity, artistic skill, and the way the doodle expresses a love for life.

This is where each national winner will have the opportunity to collaborate with a professional artist to represent their country with an exclusive doodle NFT at the World Final.

Red Bull also confirmed that the finale of the contest will happen in Amsterdam from May 25 to 28, 2023, which will feature workshops, exclusive “phygital” creative sessions, a public gallery, and the announcement of the global winner of Red Bull Doodle Art 2023.

“For this ‘phygital’ experience, involving both the physical and digital realms of art, winners from 60 countries will be invited to the Netherlands, where the 2023 Red Bull Doodle Art winner will be chosen by a panel of renowned experts,” the firm concluded.

This is not the first time that a traditional art fair and exhibit has integrated NFT arts into its system.

Celebrating its 10th year, the Art Fair Philippines showcased works that are incorporated and engaged with computer technology, animation, virtual or augmented reality, the metaverse, and NFTs.

Then in January, the Xavier Art Fest ‌included a new digital category that accepted submissions of NFTs or digital collectibles.
