[Recap] Good Food, Dialogue at CryptoPH Conversations Meetup

I entered the #CryptoPH industry in the 2021 post-bull market—where the market was already going down, the $SLP came from ₱20 to ₱1, and the NFT community was very active. 

Since the recent bear market, I have already attended many IRL and online events—especially those BitPinas-organized ones. But this event was different. 

#CryptoPH Conversations meetup is co-organized by BitPinas and GCash exec Luis Buenaventura. The event is sponsored by Bitshares Labs with GCash as venue partner.

I know that Bitcoin halving plays a big role and is one of the signs that the green rally is coming. 

And the #CryptoPH Conversations event is very timely—it happened on the night of April 19, while the halving took place on April 20. Lucky 4-20, isn’t it?

This means that I am hopeful; though we recently had an all-time high, is it safe to say that it will be the last event and the next event will be during the much-awaited bull market? 

Spotlight 1: The People, The Food 

One of my favorite parts of the event is the “pre-event.” 

While people are enjoying their food, they also have the opportunity to talk to other people—within the community. 

THE PEOPLE. Connecting to each other. 

I witnessed them enjoy their “kamustahan,” sharing the most recent projects they discovered and are currently, talking about their “paldo” moments about a specific airdrop, and even forming partnerships, collaborations, and friendships without contract signing—purely about talking to each other.

Again, the event is about Bitcoin halving, which was attended by bitcoiners, startup founders, project leads, builders, traders, airdrop farmers, and friends. 

Seeing them connect to each other has always been a measure of success for events like this. In this industry where most of us are just online, sharing what we know, learning from others, and connecting to them is already a victory. 

Well, thanks to the good food, we had a lot of energy to talk to other web3 natives. 

THE FOOD. The catalyst why they connect to each other. 

Spotlight 2: The Curious Minds

The event started at around 7:30 p.m. It was, of course, the night’s main highlight because two Pinoy bitcoiners will share their knowledge. And they are not just “kung sino-sino lang,” they are #CryptoPH Champion Luis Buenaventura and former Solicitor General of the Philipines Florin Hilbay.

But before the two sat up and shared their wisdom, Luis first explained and shared about what usually happens every time the halving has occurred for the past years. 

TAAS-KAMAY HANGGANG BUWAN! Historically, $BTC records a new ATH price after the halving, per Buenaventura. 

Finally, when the audience had the chance to throw questions, no dead air happened. Everyone wants to ask, everyone wants to learn, everyone wants to clarify things, everyone wants to feed their curious minds.

Spotlight 3: The Hangover

After the full-of-wisdom discussion, it is time for some photo-ops and of course, talking again to each other, asking some unasked questions to the guest speakers, and even obtaining the autograph from the book author. 

WITH HANGOVERS. If the night is not that deep yet, I bet we will stay longer? 

Overall, it was a successful night full of new learning. Buenaventura and Hilbay really complemented each other—Luis shared his wisdom earned through experiences, while Florin went through the book and emphasized why Bitcoin is the future money.
